Look: Dolphins rookies pay visit to Marlins ballpark

The Miami Dolphins share the sports landscape with plenty of other professional teams in different realms. South Florida is home to not just the NFL but also the NBA, NHL, MLB and MLS. And every now and again, we’ll get some kind of crossover between the two. It could be Brian Flores showing up on the Florida Panthers’ hype video in the NHL playoffs. Or, as it was this past week, it could be a pregame appearance by Dolphins players at the ball park.

Dolphins 1st-round picks Jaylen Waddle and Jaelan Phillips took a trip to LoanDepot Park to have a visit with the Miami Marlins, throwing out first pitches ahead of a contest with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dolphins duo was outfitted with custom Marlins jerseys and, thankfully, a little bit of luck — as the Marlins logged a win over the defending World Series champions.

The Dolphins play the defending champions of the NFL this upcoming fall, too — they’ve got a date with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5. Perhaps the Jaylen/Jaelan duo can afford the Dolphins with a little bit of luck themselves in that contest as well. A 2021 first-round fueled win in such a setting would likely kickstart plenty of buzz around the Dolphins in the early chapters of the season, so here’s to the pair not exhausting all of their good fortunes on their friends across town this past week.
