From Bijan Robinson's 40 time to total yards, here are key stats on the Texas running back

Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson is widely expected to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night in Kansas City.

The 21-year-old junior was the 2022 Doak Walker Award winner and also finished in the top 10 of the Heisman Trophy voting in his final season with the Longhorns.

If taken in the opening round, Robinson will be the first Longhorn picked in the first round of the draft since defensive tackle Malcom Brown in 2015, and the first offensive player selected since quarterback Vince Young in 2006.

In three years with Texas, Robinson ran for 3,410 rushing yards. That's the fourth most all-time amongst Longhorns, with Ricky Williams holding record at 6,279 total yards. San Diego State's Donnel Pumprhey holds the NCAA record with 6,405 yards.

Robinson also is fourth all-time amongst Longhorns when it comes to 100+ yard games, posting 18 during his time with Texas.

When it comes to touchdowns, Robinson ranks eighth all-time amongst Texas players with 33 TDs. Williams scored more than double that, with 72 TDs in his Longhorns career being the record.

Bijan Robinson holds these Texas football records

Robinson set the school record for yards per carry during his freshman season, with 19.1 yards gained per rush in a game against Kansas State.

That same year, he set the highest average ever for a season with 8.2 yards gained per rush.

Robinson is listed at 6'0" and weighs 220 lbs.

His size size has been called "ideal" by CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo, who wrote that "Robinson at times looked like a bigger version of Barry Sanders while at Texas."

NFL.com's "Next Gen Stats" draft model also ranked Robinson as its top prospect by noting his "exceptional combination of size, speed, elusiveness, power, production and accolades."

What was Bijan Robinson's 40 time and other NFL combine stats compared to other running backs?

During March's NFL scouting combine, Robinson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds, the sixth-fastest amongst running backs. Texas A&M's Devon Achane had the fastest running backs time with 4.32 seconds and Michigan cornerback DJ Turner II had the fastest overall time at 4.26 seconds.

History of Longhorns running backs picked in the NFL draft

The last Longhorns running back to be selected in the NFL draft was D'Onta Foreman in 2017. He was picked in the third round by the Houston Texans. He's currently a member of the Chicago Bears.

The last Longhorns running back picked in the first round was Cedric Benson. He was taken fourth overall in 2005 by the Chicago Bears.

Benson played for the Bears, Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers during his eight-year NFL career. He died in a motorcycle crash in Austin in 2019 when he was 36 years old.

The only other Longhorns running backs to be picked in the first round were Ricky Williams (1999, fifth overall), Eric Metcalf (1989, 13th overall), and Earl Campbell (first overall, 1978).
