A look at Adrian College and Siena Heights from Jan. 28-Feb. 3

The Siena Heights women's basketball team had its 18-game win streak snapped Wednesday as they lost at Indiana Tech, 80-67.

SHU (19-3, 14-2) fell for the second time against ITU after a sluggish start to the game as the Saints trailed 27-9 after the first and 50-21 at the half. SHU had a strong second half, outscoring ITU 46-30, but it wasn't enough to erase the early deficit.

Kayla Hinton had 26 points, three assists and a steal while E'Moni Guice-Finch had 12 points and E'Anna Won had 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block.

The Saints made the loss a distant memory Saturday as they beat Cleary, 66-39.

Olivia DeLong scored 12 of her 20 points in the first half, showing off some vastly improved moves at the basket and Jillian Gelso connected on four 3-pointers. Ten Saints reached the scoring column and 14 saw action on Fred Smith Court during what was the 20th annual Pink Game, which raises awareness and money for cancer.

ADRIAN

Women's Hockey

The Bulldogs scored two third-period goals to pick up the NCHA win at home against St. Norbert, 2-1, on Friday.

Adrian trailed 1-0 until Kathryn Truban scored off an assist from Jocelin Hudanish before Kaleigh Cadorette and Une Bjelland set up Maya Roy for the game-winner with 47.5 seconds to go.

Michaela O'Brien made 22 saves in the win.

The Bulldogs (21-2, 14-0 NCHA) came back Saturday and rolled to a 7-1 win.

Bjelland had a goal and four assists while Karmen Anderson had a goal and three assists and Cadorette had a goal and two assists. Roy, Tia Lascelle, Hunter Reardon and Saige Biddle all scored while Truban, Lindsey Sorrell, Annika Hanson and Callie Wollschlager all had an assist.

O'Brien made 19 saves.

Men's Hockey

The Bulldogs opened the weekend series at their NCHA rivals, St. Norbert, with a 4-1 win on Friday.

Mathew Rheding scored twice while Jaden Shields and Jacob Suede each had two assists and Bradley Somers and Matt Couto had assists as well.

Dershahn Stewart made 33 saves in the win.

The Bulldogs (17-5-1, 14-2) dropped the second game, 6-2, on Saturday.

Zachary Heintz and Suede had the goals while Austin Clyne, Couto, Shields and Somers had the assists.

Men's Basketball

The Bulldogs picked up a road MIAA win in overtime against Olivet, 74-69, on Wednesday.

Braylon Dickerson tipped in a put back at the buzzer to force OT at 62-62 and then went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the extra frame to secure the win.

Nick Seifert had 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks while Josh Jordan had 15 points, six rebounds and two assists. Kendall Chrismon had 11 points, five rebounds, an assist, block and steal and Dickerson added 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Adrian couldn't keep up at Calvin as it lost 77-51 on Saturday.

Seifert had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal while DJ Morrow scored 10 points.

Women's Basketball

The Bulldogs fell at home to Olivet, 62-44, on Wednesday.

It was a tight first half with the score tied 13-13 after one and Adrian holding onto an 18-17 lead at the half, but the Comets outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, 35-16.

Bailey Taylor had 12 points, nine rebounds and a steal.

Adrian fell again on Saturday, 73-60.

Morgan Babb led with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Men's Volleyball

The Bulldogs won a pair of matches as they beat Maranatha, 25-18, 25-14, 25-10 before beating Concordia Chicago, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22.

Chase Heuer had 16 kills and five digs against Chicago while Sam Landers had 12 kills, two aces and two blocks. Andrew Gawrisch had 26 assists and four blocks.

Women's Wrestling

The Bulldogs took sixth in the Division 3 Invite at Augustana as five wrestlers placed.

Leading the way was Nyla Burgess (155) as she took second by going 3-1 with three pins.

Track and Field

The Bulldogs traveled to Trine where the men and women combined for two event wins.

Michael Wright won the 200-meter dash (22.53) for the men while Emme Koutz won the 800 (2:18.46) for the women.

SIENA HEIGHTS

Men's Basketball

The Saints fell on the road against Indiana Tech Wednesday, 99-53.

Shawn Brown had 20 points, five steals and a block while Colin Nutter had 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

On Wednesday, they bounced back with a 60-57 win against Cleary at home.

Whenever the Saints (9-13, 6-10 WHAC) needed a big bucket, they turned to the 6-foot-7 sophomore from Tiffin, Ohio, Nutter, who had 22 points.

The biggest lead the Saints would get down the stretch was four, but it was enough to hold off the visitors.

Williams added 16 points and Brown had 11, including a pair of rim-shaking dunks in the first half. Brown also had 11 rebounds and three steals. Brent Wiles had four assists for SHU.

Gavin Sluss (Lenawee Christian) came in off the bench to play 14 minutes and made a 3-pointer.

Track and Field

Both the Saints men's and women's teams took third at the Aquinas Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic on Friday.

Matthew Gipple won the 60 (6.87) and 200 (22.20) while Andrew Stern won the 5,000 (16:14.16) and Savion Tyler won the high jump (1.92 meters). The women got wins from Isabelle Uganski in the 5,000 (18:48.40) while Linnearia Richards in the 60 hurdles (9.05), Emma Valentine won the high jump (1.70) and Tyler Fugate (Tecumseh) won the pole vault (3.57).

Men's Volleyball

The Saints beat Calvin in a road sweep on Friday, 25-16, 25-18, 25-18.

Daniel Rua had 15 kills, seven digs and an ace while Zak Tucker had 36 assists, eight digs, three kills and two blocks. Jacob Kisner had nine digs and Ras Bailey had seven kills and two blocks.

Men's Wrestling

The Saints dropped a dual at Marian, 37-11, on Friday.

Cameron Beach (125) and Christian DeLuna (197) got major decisions while Lee Borders (157) won by a 14-11 decision.

SHU then lost to Indiana Tech on Saturday, 50-3 where Randy Frailey (133) won an 8-5 decision.
