Area volleyball players shine at All-Star Game

The District 12 Volleyball held its all-star volleyball game Sunday at Union Local High School, as athletes voted on 1st team or 2nd team played each other.

The girls were divided into two teams, as Team 1 defeated Team 2 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Team 1 leaders were Ryleigh Serman (Shenandoah) with 15 assists, Bella Schilling (Fort Frye) with 15 assists, Julia Zalmanek (Fort Frye) with 16 kills, Kalista Friday (Monroe Central) with 7 digs and Emma Johnson (John Glenn) with 4 blocks.

Team 2 was led by Abby Stanford (Tri-Valley) with 11 kills and 3 blocks, Elle McLoughlin (Tri-Valley) with 9 assists and 4 digs and Caroline Mercer (Shadyside) with 4 digs.

Deer Sight In being held

The Zanesville Rifle Club annual Deer Sight In will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28.

The event is free to public and will be held at the Old Blue Rock Rifle Range, 7380 Sugar Grove Road, Chandlersville.

Rosecrans HOF accepting nominations

The Rosecrans Athletic Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the Class of 2021, until the deadline of Dec. 1.

Forms are available on the Rosecrans High School website, at the high school, at all home sporting events, or by calling coach Todd Rock at 740-408-1475. Please fill out the form completely, and provide as much information on the nominee as possible.

Those inducted will be honored during the Mid-State League game on Dec. 23 against Miller.

John Glenn selling reserved seats, passes

John Glenn Boys Basketball reserved seating is currently on sale for 2019 reserved seating pass holders at 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day through Friday, Nov.19 in the main high school office. Reserved seating and season passes will be on sale during regular school hours for new and old season pass buyers beginning Monday, Nov. 22 through Friday.

Reserved seating is good for all Boys Varsity/Junior Varsity home basketball games. The reserved seating pass will also include your admission into Girls Varsity/Junior Varsity basketball games, but will not reserve your seat for a girl’s game. General admission basketball season passes are also available.

Reserved Seat Season Passes are $60 for adults, $35 for students and $10 for seniors with gold cards, East Muskingum employees and All Sport Pass Holder.

General Admission Season Passes are $50 for adults and $25 for students.

Tri-Valley selling reserved seats, passes

Tri-Valley reserved seats for boys basketball will go on sale Monday, Nov. 22 during regular school hours for previous season ticket holders. Cost is $55 per seat, and reserved seats go on sale to the public on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

For more information call the Athletic Dept. at 740-754-1919. Adult All-Sport passes will also be available for $45 and Student All-Sport passes for $25.

JG CC/Track hosting Jingle Mingle 5K

The John Glenn Cross County and Track & Field Boosters is holding registration for the second annual Jingle Mingle 5K Run/Walk to be held in New Concord on Dec. 11.

This is a family-friendly event open to the community; children and strollers are welcome. The race begins at 10 a.m. and a registration fee of $30 (before 11/30) and $35 (12-1 through race day) includes a long sleeve T-Shirt for the first 150 registrants.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for area businesses, and athletes will also be selling chances to win a Christmas Cash grand prize.
