LOCAL ROUNDUP: Trinity volleyball wins PAC tourney opener

Oct. 17—TRINITY — Trinity won 25-16, 25-20, 24-26, 25-23 against Eastern Randolph on Monday at Trinity in the first round of the PAC 1A/2A volleyball tournament.

Kaitlyn McCoy had 25 kills and 24 digs for the Bulldogs (16-7). Karrington Batten added 13 kills and three blocks while Sarabeth Johnson had 11 kills, 15 digs and two aces. Natalie Franko also had three blocks.

T.W. ANDREWS, WALKERTOWN

WALERKTOWN — Sixth-seeded T.W. Andrews lost 25-13, 25-12, 25-11 against third-seeded Walkertown on Monday at Walkertown in the first round of the Mid-State 2A Conference volleyball tournament. The Lady Raiders fell to 6-16 overall.

SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, WESTERN GUILFORD

GREENSBORO — Fifth-seeded Southwest Guilford fell 26-24, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14 against Fourth-seeded Western Guilford on Monday at Western in the first round of the Metro 4A Conference volleyball tournament. The Cowgirls dipped to 13-10 overall.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, PIEDMONT CLASSICAL

KERNERSVILLE — Second-seeded Bishop McGuinness rolled past sixth-seeded Piedmont Classical 25-4, 25-10, 25-6 on Monday at Bishop in the first round of the Northwest Piedmont 1A Conference volleyball tournament.

Finley Miller had six kills while Hannah Reeves had nine aces for the VIllains (18-8). Natalie Ma and Rosie Petrovitch each had four aces. Reeves and Aho each had a block, while Petrovitch and Helen Thompson each had two digs. Susanna Drake had 13 assists.

EAST DAVIDSON, SOUTH DAVIDSON

THOMASVILLE — Fourth-seeded East Davidson defeated fifth-seeded South Davidson 25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-9 on Monday at East in the first round of the Central Carolina 1A/2A Conference volleyball tournament.

THOMASVILLE, SALISBURY

SALISBURY — Seventh-seeded Thomasville lost 25-5, 25-6, 25-19 against second-seeded Salisbury on Monday at Salisbury in the opening round of the Central Carolina 1A/2A Conference volleyball tournament. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-20 overall.

GLENN, DAVIE COUNTY

MOCKSVILLE — Glenn fell 25-10, 25-7, 25-4 against Davie County on Monday at Davie in the first round of the Central Piedmont 4A Conference volleyball tournament.

Kyrsten Washington had five kills and three blocks for the Ladycats (6-16). Kamry Lamonte added five digs while Kimberly Wyramon had four. Adyson Jessup had six assists.

LEDFORD, CENTRAL DAVIDSON

WALLBURG — Third-seeded Ledford defeated sixth-seeded Central Davidson on Monday at Ledford in the opening round of the Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference volleyball tournament. The Panthers improved to 12-11 overall.

RAGSDALE, NORTHERN GUILFORD

GREENSBORO — Seventh-seeded Ragsdale lost 25-10, 25-11, 25-17 against second-seeded Northern Guilford on Monday at Northern in the first round of the Metro 4A Conference volleyball tournament.

Kalani Daniel had six kills, two blocks and two aces for the Tigers (8-13). Kennedy Zarger added six digs followed by Morgan Osborne and Mya Gidderon with five each. Zarger also had eight assists.

SOUTHERN GUILFORD, HIGH POINT CENTRAL

GUILFORD COUNTY — Second-seeded Southern Guilford beat seventh-seeded High Point Central on Monday at Southern in the opening round of the Mid-State 3A Conference volleyball tournament.

The Storm improved to 13-10 overall while the Bison dipped to 5-18.

WHEATMORE, UWHARRIE CHARTER

ASHEBORO — Sixth-seeded Wheatmore lost against second-seeded Uwharrie Charter 25-15, 25-18, 25-20 on Monday at Uwharrie Charter in the first round of the PAC 1A/2A volleyball tournament. The Warriors dipped to 4-15 overall.

T.W. ANDREWS, NORTH FORSYTH

WINSTON-SALEM — T.W. Andrews fell 3-0 against North Forsyth in MId-State 2A Conference boys soccer Monday at North Forsyth. Kaw Poe made four saves in goal for the Red Raiders (4-8-1 overall, 3-6 conference).

BISHOP McGUINNESS, WILLIAMS

BURLINGTON — Bishop McGuinness tied Williams 0-0 in nonconference boys soccer Monday at Williams. Asael Guzman made four saves in goal for the Villains (9-8-2).

EAST DAVIDSON, SOUTH DAVIDSON

DENTON — East Davidson topped South Davidson 7-1 in Central Carolina 1A/2A Conference boys soccer Monday at South Davidson. The Golden Eagles improved to 6-8-3 overall and 5-4-1 in the conference.

LEDFORD, MONTGOMERY CENTRAL

WALLBURG — Ledford beat Montgomery Central 1-0 in Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference boys soccer Monday at Ledford.

Emmanuel Ontiveros scored for the Panthers (7-7-4 overall, 4-2-1 conference). Ayden Callahan made seven saves in goal.

OAK GROVE, NORTH DAVIDSON

WELCOME — Oak Grove defeated rival North Davidson 2-0 in Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference boys soccer Monday at North. The Grizzlies improved to 7-11-1 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

TRINITY, PROVIDENCE GROVE

TRINITY — Trinity rolled past Providence Grove 4-0 in PAC 1A/2A boys soccer Monday at Trinity. The Bulldogs improved to 12-4-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the conference.

FOOTBALL GAMES RESCHEDULED

TRIAD — A couple high school football games have been rescheduled due to the potential for bad weather Friday.

Wheatmore's varsity game at Eastern Randolph has been moved to Thursday at 7:30 p.m. while its home JV game has been moved to Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Ledford's varsity game at Asheboro has been moved to Thursday at 7 p.m. while its home JV game has been moved to Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
