Local pro hockey: Hat Tricks jump on host Watertown Wolves for victory

Mar. 17—WATERTOWN — Bohdan Zinchenko scored a pair of goals and the Danbury Hat Tricks recorded the first five scores of the game to claim a 6-2 Federal Hockey Prospects League victory over the Watertown Wolves on Sunday night at the Watertown Fairgrounds Arena.

The Hat Tricks held the Wolves scoreless until the final 8 minutes, 30 seconds of the game when Tate Leeson and Vladislav Pavlov scored back-to-back goals for Watertown (15-31) within 1:27 of each other. Pavlov's goal, on assists from Leeson and Trevor Lord, came on the power play.

Chase Harwell put the game away for the Hat Tricks by scoring an empty net goal with 1:30 left in the third period.

Zachary Pamaylaon scored Danbury's first goal on a power-play shot with 4:52 left in the first period. Connor Woolley, who assisted on two other goals, gave the Hat Tricks a 2-0 lead at 8:08 of the second period.

Zinchenko's first goal at 5:18 of the third gave Danbury a three-goal lead. William Berry followed with a power-play goal at 9:36 and Zinchenko scored again 1:15 later for a 5-0 lead.

Connor McCollum made 36 saves in net for Danbury. Eloi Bouchard turned away 46 shots for Watertown.

The Wolves remain in last place in the Empire Division, still four points behind fourth-place Elmira, which holds the final playoff spot. Watertown, which has 11 games left, plays at the first-place Binghamton Black Bears on Friday, then hosts Binghamton for back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday at the Fairgrounds Arena.
