HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Wednesday's Cape Cod playoff scores and highlights

There were two boys soccer teams and two girls volleyball teams in action for the MIAA state tournament. Find out who advanced to the next round, which included a big upset by one team.

Girls Volleyball

Division 1 Round of 16: No. 3 Barnstable 3, No. 14 Acton-Boxborough 0: For the third year in a row, the Red Hawks (19-3) are headed to the Elite Eight after a sweep (25-22, 25-10, 25-11). Molly Fredo led the offense with 18 kills. Charlotte Sullivan (six kills, three blocks), Dylan Andrews (six kills, two blocks), Sadie Wellbeloved (28 assists, one block), Logan Hurwitz (12 digs, two aces), and Molly Gleason (eight digs, three kills) also contributed. They will host No. 6 Andover in the next round.

Division 5 Round of 16: No. 24 St. John Paul II 3, No. 8 Easthampton 2: The Lions (14-6) pulled off their biggest win of the season as they upset a top 10 team on the road in five sets (22-25, 25-22, 13-25, 26-24, 15-11). Zlata Alioshka was everywhere on the floor with two aces, two kills, 32 assists, and 18 digs. Molly Pulit (two aces, 42 digs), Rosanna Sullivan (four aces, 16 kills and 27 digs), Charlotte Sturgis (11 kills, three blocks), and Ava Czech (seven kills, one block, three digs) all contributed in the victory.

Boys Soccer

Division 4 Round of 16: No. 9 Monomoy 2, No. 8 Frontier Regional 1: The Sharks (14-3-3) pulled off an upset on the road and will advance to the Elite Eight, where they will face the top seed Cohasset.

Division 5 Round of 16: No. 5 Maynard 2, No. 12 St. John Paul II 1: Nico Sullivan scored the lone goal for the Lions (9-8-3) on a penalty kick, but it was not enough to get the victory. JPII beat No. 21 Brighton 4-1 in the Round of 32.
