Live blog: Observations from Miami's win vs. Southern California in Greenville Regional

Last season, Southern California made a surprising run as a No. 6 seed into the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Miami is making its first appearance since 2018, and it hasn't been past the first round since 2016.

As the teams meet today at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, the Trojans carry a No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region against the No. 10 seed Hurricanes. As the seeding suggests, USC is expected to win. However, No. 10 seeds have fared well in the past, winning almost 40 percent of the time.

If the Hurricanes pull the upset, it's likely to be behind their guard play. Miami's top four scorers are listed as guards, led by 6-foot-5 Kameron McGusty, a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection (17.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game).

Miami will have to handle the Trojans' trio of 6-foot-10 forward Isaiah Mobley (14.3 points, 8.5 rebounds per game), 6-9 wing Drew Peterson (12.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists per game, 41% on 3-point attempts) and 6-3 Boogie Ellis (12.8 points, 38% on 3-point attempts.).
