Fall brings in week 5 action

With the arrival of Fall, the Central Texas area will be awash with key games tonight.

In 26-6A, the biggest game was at Cavalier Stadium as 4-0 Lake Travis hosted 4-0 Westlake in the Battle of the Lakes, the winner to have the inside track on capturing the district crown.

In another matchup of unbeatens, 4-0 Lampasas headed south to take on 4-0 Wimberley in a 4A clash.

26-6A updates

After Kadyn Leon's 11-yard TD pas to Josiah Thomas to narrow the Westlake lead to 20-14, the Lake Travis defense forces a three-and-out to give the ball back to the Cavs offense with over 8 minutes remaining.

Dripping Springs has dominated the second hlaf as the Tigers lead Bowie 42-12 with 10:07 remaining in the tussle.

Johnson leads Anderson 42-27 in the fourth.

District 11-5A DI action

Cedar Park leads East View 47-6 in the fourth, while College Station has erupted in the second half as Cougars are routing Leander 63-21 late in the 3rd stanza.

Georgetown rides tenacious D to a come-from-behind win

After not forcing a turnover during the non-district campaign, Georgetown forced 5 tonight as the Eagles rallied with a 75-yard scoring drive on the last possession to nip A&M Consolidated 14-10 in the 33-5A DI opener on the road.

The Eagles host Hendrickson next Friday while A&M Consolidated travels to Cedar Park to take on the T-Wolves.

Barnett drills 53-yarder

Westlake used Spencer Barnett's strong leg as Barnett split the uprights from 53-yards on the opening play of the 4th to extend the Chap lead to 20-7 over Lake Travis.

Also in 26-6A action, Johnson leads Anderson 35-20 in the final quarter.

Petter puts Eagles in front

After trailing for the first time in the game, Georgetown responded with a 75-yard scoring drive that has punctuated by Andrew Petter's four-yard TD run out of the Wildcat formation. Georgetown leads 14-10 with l4 minutes remaining.

Kayser's 4th down run expands Chap lead

Jack Kayser scored on a 40-yard burst as Westlake has stretched its lead to 17-7 with 4:14 left in the third.

Wimberley is now running away as the Texans lead Lampasas 24-14.

Chmelar's 51-yard FG gives Tigers its first lead

A&M Consolidated's Colton Chmelar's 51-yard field goal has given the Tigers a 10-7 lead over Georgetown in the fourth quarter.

Cedar Park is not having any trouble with East View as the T-Wolves lead the Patriots 40-6 in the third.

College Station is doubling up Leander 42-21 in the third.

Stoever scores again for the Texans

Wimberley's Cody Stoever has scored for the third time to extend the Texans' lead over Lampasas to 21-7 early in the third stanza.

Leggett returns with vengeance

After missing two games with an injured hand, Georgetown's Landry Leggett has been a part of three of four Eagle turnovers in as Georgetown and A&M Consolidated are still square at 7 in the third.

Westlake leads Lake Travis 10-7 at half.

Wimberley and Dripping Springs lead at half

Wimberley leads Lampasas 14-7 at half, while the Tigers are 2 points better than Bowie 14-12 at intermission.

A&M Consolidated running back Trey Taylor's 51-burst up the middle has evented the score as the Tigers now are tied with Georgetown 7-7 after the initial possession of the second half.

Bartlett knotted at half

Bartlett has reached halftime as the Bulldogs are tied with Woodsboro 22-22.

Regents leads San Antonio Christian 35-0 at half.

Blanco is up on Luling 27-7 at half.

Tello answers Tyndall's score

Bowie's Cruz Tello scores on a one-yard run as the Dawgs gambled on fourth and one as Dripping Springs still leads 14-9 with 2:49 remaining in the half.

Elgin has scored and now the Wildcats are tied with Connally 21-21 in the second stanza.

Burnet is holding a 26-7 lead over Early in the second quarter.

Lions leads Cedar Creek at intermission

They have reached half in Bastrop as Lockhart is in front of Cedar Creek 21-14.

Nico Hamilton has scored from a yard out as Lake Travis has pulled even with Westlake 7-7 with 9:26 remaining in the opening half.

Dripping Spring's Jack Tyndall has scored on a 5-yard run as the Tigers lead Bowie 14-3 with 5:11 left before the break.

Wimberley and Lampasas are even at 7 as Lampasas scored on an 87-yard pass.

Eagles force 3 turnovers in opening half

After not forcing a turnover in its first three games of the season, Georgetown has forced 3 A&M Consolidated turnovers as the Eagles lead the Tigers 7-0 at the half.

At the end of one, Westlake leads Lake Travis 7-0, while Dripping Springs is up on Bowie 7-0 at the end of the initial stanza.

Black Rain defense pitching a shutout

Cedar Park's Black Rain defense is dominating the East View offense as the T-Wolves lead the Patriots 33-0 with less than 3 minutes left in the half.

In other 11-5A DI action, College Station has rallied to take a 20-14 lead over Leander.

Splendora leads La Grange 14-7 in the second.

Taylor has raced to a 20-7 lead over Harrel in the opening quarter.

In 26-6A 2-2 Johnson leads 2-2 Anderson 21-13 in the 2nd.

Tigers lead Dawgs in first

Maddox Bloomgren's 7-yard rushing TD has given Dripping Springs a 7-0 lead over Bowie with 1:29 left in the opening quarter. Bloomgren broke three tackles as he dragged a defender into the end zone.

In the first quarter, San Antonio Antonian Prep leads Crockett 14-7.

State-ranked Weiss leads Harker Heights 14-0 in the second while Connally leads Elgin 21-14 as they have reached the second quarter.

Land uses his feet to put Westlake in front

Quarterback Paxton Land capped Westlake's opening drive as he scored from 18 yards out as the Chaps lead Lake Travis 7-0 in the first quarter.

In the other battle of undefeated squads, Wimberley leads Lampasas 7-0 on a 21-yard scoring pass from Cody Stoever.

Booras to Holubec gives Eagles lead

With 4:46 remaining in the first half, Georgetown's Noah Booras found Cody Holubec on a 10-yard scoring pass to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead over A&M Consolidated.

Cedar Park is looking to build on its 14-0 lead as the T-Wolves are marching deep into East View territory in the 2nd quarter.

Leander is leading College Station 14-7 in the second at Bible Stadium.

Connally leads 14-0 early

Connally has jumped to a 14-0 first quarter lead over Elgin.

Connally is looking to improve to 3-2 after going winless last season.

T-Wolves jump to early lead

Cedar Park has struck first as the T-Wolves lead East View 7-0 midway through the opening quarter.

Georgetown and A7M Consolidated are still scoreless midway through the first.

At Bible Stadium, Leander has jumped to a 7-0 lead over College Station midway through the opening quarter as Joseph Marrow was on the receiving end of a 40-yard pass from Logan Mitchell

Galbraith out for Cavs

The Statesman's Jay Plotkin is reporting that Lake Travis wide receiver Seth Galbraith will miss the game with an injury. Galbraith has been a weapon in the red zone for signal caller Kadyn Leon.

Hawks host unbeaten Boerne Champion

The stingy Hays defense will be put to the test tonight as the Hawks take on visiting Boerne Champion at Shelton Stadium in a key district affair.

While sporting a 3-1 record, the  Hays defense has limited foes to 15.75 points per game, while the unbeaten Chargers put up 35 points per game.

Thursday night results

Granger lit up the scoreboard rolling to a 57-30 win over Bruni in the non-district finale. The 4-1 Lions have a week off before opening up district action hosting Iola two weeks from tonight.

In district play, winless Pflugerville dropped a 35-19 verdict to Belton at The Pfield. The Panthers travel to Killeen next Thursday night to square off against Chaparral.

Six Area teams ranked by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine

Of the six Central Texas teams ranked by Dave Cambell’s Texas Football Magazine, five are among the elite in 6A.

Westlake, 4-0, is ranked #4 and the Chaps travel to Cavalier Stadium to face #8 Lake Travis (4-0) in the annual Battle of the Lake.

4-0 Vandegrift is ranked #5, while 4-0 Weiss is #15 and 2-1 Dripping Springs is #25.

4A Division II 4-0 Wimberley entertains unbeaten Lampasas as the magazine’s 5th ranked 4A DII team.

Petteway first to 1,000 yards

After last week’s 243-yard performance on the ground that powered Manor’s 42-31 come-from-behind win over McNeil, Titus Petteway is the first area back to reach the 1000-yard mark.

Petteway has rolled up 1013 yards on the ground  to go along with 15 TDs. Petteway has proven to be a dual-threat back as he also has caught 16 passes for 280 yards and a score.

The Mustangs, (3-1, 1-0) have the weekend off before traveling to face the #5 team in 6A, Vandegrift next Friday.

Prolific Bastrop duo key come-from-behind win

Behind freshman quarterback Weston Nielsen, Bastrop rallied from a 14-point deficit as the Bears nipped Pflugerville 48-42 in a game that was moved to Smithville due to last Thursday night’s storm.

Nielsen, listed as the third-team QB when the season kicked off, accounted for 451 yards via the air with 3 TDs.

While Nielsen gathered the Statesman’s Player of the week honor, he wasn’t alone in shining for the Bears as junior receiver Jaelyn Gratten reeled in 8 passes for 251 yards and 2 scores.

The 3-1 Bears kick off district play tonight as they host Kerrville Tivy.
