Updates from Jets-Chiefs as Taylor Swift visits MetLife to watch Travis Kelce

EAST RUTHERFORD − Taylor Swift was here, Aaron Rodgers showed up.

And oh yeah, the Jets and Chiefs played on Sunday Night Football.

What a night at MetLife Stadium.

It was a wild week of rumors and speculation about Swift's potential appearance, which would come one week after her, um, situation with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce took centerstage when she showed up at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the Chiefs' win over the Bears.

Reports then surfaced in the last few days that Swift would indeed be on hand Sunday night, too, prompting her fans to buy tickets and flood the parking lots.

She did show up, and perhaps it was the biggest event at MetLife Stadium since, well, Swift performed here back in May as part of The Eras Tour.

As for Rodgers?

He had been away from the Jets recovering from surgery on the ruptured Achilles he suffered four snaps into his season debut, but he rejoined the team in the last few days and is the building tonight.

How much his presence could help Zach Wilson remains to be seen, although having him around to offer insight and advice can only help the young quarterback, who hasn't exactly inspired much confidence that the Jets offense can withstand Rodgers' absence.

On the field, the Jets will try to beat Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

Here are the real-time updates during what was surely an interesting night at MetLife Stadium:

Taylor Swift is, indeed, in the building

I know this because I watched her enter MetLife Stadium, along with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

She went through security like everybody else who entered the building. She then went to a suite where I'm sure she'll be shown on television no fewer than 500 times.

FINAL: Chiefs 23, Jets 20

The Jets made it interesting, but couldn't do enough in the second half to pull out a win.

And the Chiefs are now 2-0 with Taylor Swift present.

3Q, 10:40: Zach Wilson throws a 10-yard TD pass to Allen Lazard, then runs it in for two points. It's a tie game.

Well, how about that.

The Jets have tied the game at 20-20.

Wilson engineered a beautiful drive to open the second half, starting with a 25-yard pass to Tyler Conklin. This is the best Wilson and the Jets offense have looked in a long, long time.

2Q, 6:26: Jets cut their deficit to five points

At least for Taylor Swift, she's seeing a better game than she did last week.

A one-yard touchdown pass from Wilson to C.J. Uzomah makes it 17-12 Chiefs. That was a seven-play, 41-yard scoring drive that began when Jets safety Ashtyn Davis intercepted Mahomes at the Kansas City 42.

2Q, 9:50: Greg Zuerlein kicks a 31-yard field goal

Jets cut their deficit to 17-5.

They had a promising drive going -- Zach Wilson hit Allen Lazard for a 39-yard pass (a really nice catch by Lazard) to get to the Chiefs 20.

But the Jets couldn't get a touchdown and had to settle for the field goal.

2Q, 13:20: Jets are on the board...

... with a safety.

At this point, they'll take it.

It's now 17-2 Chiefs.

1Q, 3:24: And.... another touchdown for the Chiefs

This time a 34-yard pass by Mahomes to tight end Noah Gray.

Pacheco had a 33-yard catch on that drive.

It's 17-0 Kansas City.

1Q, 8:32: Isiah Pacheco touchdown run adds to the Chiefs' lead

The former Rutgers running back rumbled 48 yards for a touchdown to put Kansas City up 10-0. Really nice run by Pacheco, drafted in the seventh round in 2022.

1Q, 11:35: Harrison Butker kicks a 37-yard field goal to put Chiefs ahead 3-0

The Chiefs got down to the Jets 18-yard line before the drive stalled out when Mahomes threw an incomplete pass intended for Skyy Moore on third-and-3, forcing Kansas City to settle for a field goal.
