Postgame recap: Jaguars force four takeaways, defeat Colts in Gardner Minshew's return

After two weeks in London, the Jacksonville Jaguars are ready for a real home game against the AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium.

Among the top storylines: the battle of the quarterbacks. Trevor Lawrence is in his third year for the Jaguars, coming off the Jags' Week 5 win against the Buffalo Bills. Lawrence will go head-to-head against the man he replaced, Gardner Minshew, who is filling in for injured first-round Gator Anthony Richardson. Is there another round of Minshew magic in Jacksonville?

The Jaguars already beat the Colts in Week 1, coming out on top 31-21 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Magic-less Minshew: Colts QB Gardner Minshew has 4 turnovers in loss to Jaguars

Jacksonville’s defense had four takeaways as they completed the season sweep of the Indianapolis Colts, 37-20. Not even the return of “Minshew Mania” to Duval could cure the Colts’ kryptonite of losing road games against the Jaguars. - Juston Lewis

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence feels 'OK' after knee injury, Pederson defends play call

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence winced in pain, holding his left knee and immediately getting it inspected by team doctors. With 3:10 remaining in the team's win against the Colts, Lawrence dropped back on the Indy 16-yard line, was forced to roll out left and was subsequently tackled by defensive lineman Samson Ebukam, landing awkwardly as Ebukam twisted Lawrence's leg. - Demetrius Harvey

Three plays, 16 seconds, two Travis Etienne TDs, one Josh Allen sack swing game for Jaguars

The old-school single-wing play was just installed last week by the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff and one coach Doug Pederson told the offense could be called at any time on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. The eventual timing turned out to be perfect.

Travis Etienne’s 22-yard touchdown run after taking a snap in a “Wildcat” formation less than a minute into the second quarter -- one play after outside linebacker Josh Allen strip-sacked Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew -- was the turning point. - Garry Smits

Jaguars report card: High marks all around, with one suspect coaching decision

Jaguars' defense records four turnovers, defeat Colts 37-20. Here are our takeaways.

The Jaguars picked up right where they left off. Jacksonville (4-2) continued its winning streak, capturing its third victory in a row with a 37-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts (3-3). Today's win marks the ninth straight time the Jaguars have defeated the Colts at home dating back to 2015. The nine wins include a game in London. See the key takeaways. - Demetrius Harvey

FINAL: Jaguars 37, Colts 20

That's a three-game winning streak for the Jaguars, and they're officially in first place in the AFC South. The big question is now the status of Trevor Lawrence for Thursday's game in New Orleans. - Clayton Freeman

Two-minute warning: Jaguars 37, Colts 20

Looks like the Jaguars are about to move to 4-2. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Jaguars: Brandon McManus on target, but Trevor Lawrence in pain after sack

The Jaguars add three more points on a Brandon McManus 51-yarder, but that's not the story of that drive. On third down, Trevor Lawrence ran backward 15 yards into the backfield before getting sacked, and left the field in visible pain. The issue appears to be a possible ankle or lower left. Trainers are working on the QB now.

Jaguars 37, Colts 20, 3:00 4th. - Clayton Freeman

Sack, turnover on downs extinguish Indianapolis comeback

That should do it. Roy Robertson-Harris and Travon Walker combined to sack Gardner Minshew, and on fourth and 16, his pass went in and out of the hands of Devin Lloyd. The Jaguars take over on downs inside the Colts' 20 with fewer than four minutes to go. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Jaguars: Brandon McManus restores 14-point Jaguars edge

A long kick return by Jamal Agnew set up some points for the Jaguars. The offense wasn't able to reach the red zone, with Colts linebacker E.J. Speed downing Travis Etienne on a sweep, but Brandon McManus came on for a 49-yard field goal. The Jaguars' defense now has to put the brakes on Minshew Magic.

Jaguars 34, Colts 20, 4:50 4th. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Colts: Zack Moss finds end zone after long Kylen Granson receptions

Once again: It's not over yet. The Jaguars went three-and-out, and Gardner Minshew went to work with two long completions to tight end Kylen Granson. From there, Zack Moss powered into the end zone. It's a two-score game now. The Jaguars' pass defense clearly is having some trouble with Tyson Campbell out, with Minshew repeatedly targeting Montaric Brown.

Jaguars 31, Colts 20, 7:14 4th. - Clayton Freeman

Interception: Gardner Minshew goes for end zone, Darious Williams picks him off

Another big play from Darious Williams. With the Colts in scoring range, Gardner Minshew threw a high, floating pass to the end zone and the Creekside High School graduate had plenty of time to get under it and pick it off at the goal line. That's takeaway number four for the Jaguars' D. Williams has three interceptions in his last three games.

With 11:06 to go and a 31-13 lead, the Jaguars could be in position to start draining the clock. - Clayton Freeman

Interception: Trevor Lawrence picked off by JuJu Brents

It's not quite over yet. On third down, Trevor Lawrence throws an interception directly to Colts corner JuJu Brents, after an apparent miscommunication between quarterback and receiver. Indianapolis takes over on the Jacksonville 40 with more than 13 minutes still to go and an 18-point deficit. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Colts: Gardner Minshew scores first TD of Jacksonville return, passes to Josh Downs

Gardner Minshew's return to EverBank Stadium is going to include a touchdown. On fourth down, the Colts quarterback passes for the 2-yard score to Josh Downs, who was working against Montaric Brown at corner with Tyson Campbell out of action. It's still a three-score advantage for the Jaguars.

Jaguars 31, Colts 13, 14:14 4th. - Clayton Freeman

End of third quarter: Jaguars 31, Colts 6

Just 15 minutes to go. But Gardner Minshew has the Colts in scoring range with the best Indianapolis drive of the game. Key plays were a fourth-and-7 conversion to Alec Pierce from the Indianapolis 28, and a 40-yard strike to Michael Pittman Jr. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence passes to Brenton Strange for score

It's getting better for the Jags. Following an Indianapolis punt, which came after K'Lavon Chaisson's sack on Gardner Minshew, the Jaguars got a 19-yard D'Ernest Johnson rush and a couple of defensive pass interference penalties to move into scoring range. From there, Trevor Lawrence rolled out for a 9-yard touchdown to a totally open Brenton Strange.

Jaguars 31, Colts 6, 3:51 3rd. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Jaguars: Brandon McManus converts from 48 yards after Rayshawn Jenkins pick

No touchdown this time, but the Jaguars still convert the turnover into points. Trevor Lawrence nearly got picked on second down and had his third-down pass to Calvin Ridley come up just short of the chains. That meant an appearance for Brandon McManus and an on-target 48-yard boot from the left hash mark. It's a three-score game at the Bank.

Jaguars 24, Colts 6, 10:44 3rd. - Clayton Freeman

Interception, again: Gardner Minshew overthrows target, Rayshawn Jenkins intercepts for Jaguars

Earlier this afternoon, Rayshawn Jenkins had an apparent interception wiped off the board by an obvious offside in the line. But nobody is taking this pick away. After a Jaguars three-and-out, Gardner Minshew picked up a couple of first downs for Indianapolis, but the QB will want this pass back. He launched his pass well over receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and straight into the arms of Jenkins, who returned it inside the Colts 40. Both starting Jags safeties now have interceptions and the defense is up to three takeaways with 12:31 left in the 3rd and a 21-6 lead. - Clayton Freeman

Second half kicks off: Jaguars receive

Back to the action at EverBank Stadium. The Jaguars receive the kickoff with a 21-6 lead. - Clayton Freeman

HALFTIME: Jaguars 21, Colts 6

That's halftime at the Bank. Two touchdowns for Travis Etienne and two takeaways on defense are Jacksonville highlights in this one. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Colts: Indianapolis responds on long Matt Gay field goal

Gardner Minshew led the Colts across midfield on the two-minute drill but had to throw away on second and third down. That set up a 56-yard field goal attempt for Matt Gay, who made no mistake to cut the lead to two scores.

Jaguars 21, Colts 6, 0:06 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence connects with Christian Kirk, as Jags pull away

Turnover turns into points, yet again. After a nice sideline completion from Trevor Lawrence to Calvin Ridley, the Jaguars put up more points by exploiting an apparent Colts coverage mix-up. Christian Kirk was left wide open on the left side and Lawrence wasn't about to miss that opportunity for a 29-yard score.

Jaguars 21, Colts 3, 1:40 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

Two-minute warning: Jaguars drive across midfield after Travis Etienne rushes

Time for more Jaguars points before halftime? Following a Travis Etienne third-down conversion, the Jags are already across the 50 with two minutes before the break. On the down side, guard Brandon Scherff limped off the field earlier in the possession. Jacksonville leads the Colts 14-3 at the Bank. - Clayton Freeman

Interception: Andre Cisco intercepts Gardner Minshew in red zone, Jaguars take over

Gardner Minshew got lucky one play earlier when his underthrown ball hit Devin Lloyd in both hands and the Jaguars linebacker couldn't hold on. No such luck this time: Minshew air-mailed his target and safety Andre Cisco grabbed it for an easy pick. That's two takeaways for the Jaguars' defense. The Colts had been threatening after Jonathan Taylor's 40-yard catch-and-run from Minshew. Jacksonville still leads 14-3 with 4:39 to go in the 2nd quarter. - Clayton Freeman

Colts getting more pressure on Trevor Lawrence: DeForest Buckner ends drive with a sack

After a pair of punts, a possible trend to watch: Indianapolis is getting much more pressure on the QB. Trevor Lawrence nearly got sacked on first down when Dayo Odeyingbo broke through unblocked, and then did go down on third down on a DeForest Buckner sack. That means a punt. In addition, trainers are working on Jags cornerback Tyson Campbell on the sidelines with an apparent hamstring injury. The Jaguars still lead 14-3 with 6:44 left in the 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

Super catch: Evan Engram brings in Trevor Lawrence pass one-handed, stays in bounds

There's one for the highlight collection. After the Jaguars' defense forced an Indy punt, Trevor Lawrence took over on offense and fired a pass that looked likely to sail out of bounds -- except that Evan Engram not only caught it one-handed but managed to get both feet down in bounds despite absorbing a hit from the Colts' defense.

The Jaguars still lead 14-3 with about 12 minutes left in the second quarter. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Jaguars: Immediately after Josh Allen strip-sack, Travis Etienne rushes for Jags touchdown

That's 14 points in 16 seconds. Immediately after that strip-sack by Josh Allen, the Jaguars transform the turnover into points. Travis Etienne took the direct snap and accelerated around the right end for a 22-yard touchdown, his second score of the game, and it's a two-score edge for the Jags at EverBank Stadium.

Jaguars 14, Colts 3, 14:01 1st. - Clayton Freeman

Strip-sack: Josh Allen sacks Gardner Minshew and Angelo Blackson recovers fumble

Big play there from Josh Allen. The Jaguars' edge rusher beats Colts left tackle Bernhard Raimann to hit Gardner Minshew from behind, jarring the ball loose for Angelo Blackson to recover. Up to seven sacks this year for Allen.

The Jags take over at the Indianapolis 22 with 14:10 left in the 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

Touchdown Jaguars: Travis Etienne 2-yard TD run caps 14-play drive; Trevor Lawrence twice draws Colts offside

An excellent response from the Jaguars' offense. After two Indianapolis penalties for jumping early, Trevor Lawrence tossed it short to rookie tight end Brenton Strange for a catch-and-run to the Colts 2. From there, Travis Etienne powered into the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown. It's a welcome change from the norm for the Jaguars' offense, which hadn't scored an opening-drive TD this season.

Jaguars 7, Colts 3, 14:17 2nd. - Clayton Freeman

END OF FIRST QUARTER: Colts 3, Jaguars 0

That was a very speedy first quarter, from start to finish in under 25 minutes. The Jaguars are on the march inside the Indianapolis red zone, and Trevor Lawrence has twice drawn Indianapolis into neutral zone infractions in short yardage. A Travis Etienne carry has advanced the football to the Colts' 18. - Clayton Freeman

Field goal Colts: Gardner Minshew leads eight-minute opening drive, ending in Matt Gay kick

So much for the three-and-out streak for the Jaguars' defense. Gardner Minshew marched the Colts offense upfield in a clock-crunching drive of eight and a half minutes using a string of short passes, completing his first nine attempts in his return to EverBank Stadium. But Devin Lloyd, back from his hand injury, jarred a third-down pass loose and forced Indianapolis to settle for a 28-yard Matt Gay field goal.
