Live Updates: Gardner area football Week 2 action

It’s Week 2 of high school football and here is what we are looking at for the Friday and Saturday lineup.

Most of the Gardner area teams are playing out of league for their second games of the season. The only league matchup pits Oakmont against Clinton in the Mid Wach, however the programs are in different sections of the league (Oakmont is in Mid Wach C, Clinton is in Mid Wach D).

Teams will look to gain some momentum, getting into the swing of a more typical routine after weather has halted and postponed games and practices within the past several weeks.

The schedule

Friday

Wareham 50, Murdock 8

Jordan Paris scored for Murdock in a tough loss against Wareham.

Blue Hills 50, Monty Tech 14

Quabbin 34, David Prouty 29

Bryce Venne led Quabbin with three touchdowns and other key plays to help his team defeat David Prouty. Prouty's Cam Goodrich also scored three times, and the duo of Goodrich and quarterback Logan Josti was a struggle for Quabbin defense to contain. Big defensive plays late in the game from Venne, Wes Sanderson and Ed Guertin helped Quabbin focus back in and prevent Prouty from scoring to take the lead in the fourth quarter.

Ware 28, Narragansett 27

Clinton 28, Oakmont 6

Oakmont took a tough one against Clinton on Friday evening. Clinton's Axel Ramos and Connor Cox each scored two touchdowns to lead the Gaels past Oakmont. Sam Curtis scored in the first quarter for Oakmont, but the Spartans were unable to get on the board throughout the rest of the game.

Saturday

Gardner 46, St Paul 14

Gardner remained undefeated this week, defeating St. Paul on the road in a Saturday daytime game. Many people contributed to the Wildcats offense, including Ayden Sparrow, Brian Egan, Evans Cesaire, Alex Figueroa, Dakota Wells, Doherian Wells and Makhai Dummott, who each scored a touchdown. Cookie Leger also earned an extra point with successful kicks on four instances.
