Turkey Day rivalries: South Shore Thanksgiving high school football scores and highlights

For most high school football teams in Massachusetts, Thanksgiving marks the last game of the season.

It also marks the biggest game of the season for many programs. The South Shore action kicks off on Wednesday night with three games.

Six South Shore teams are headed to Gillette Stadium next week (Blue Hills will also compete in the vocational title game) and have to make the call to sit or play their starters with another big game looming.

Wednesday

Blue Hills 22, Bristol-Plymouth 6: The Warriors (8-4) were led by the ground attack of Caiden Montas (2 TDs) and Aidan Landers (1 TD).

South Shore Tech 41, Holbrook/Avon 30: The Vikings improve to 6-5 while the Bulldogs fall to 4-7. In the win, Todd Egan rushed 19 times for 224 yards and three TDs. He was also 9 of 15 passing for 155 yards and two TDs. He broke the program's all-time single-season scoring record with 24 TDs. Jordan Cioffi rushed 25 times for 277 yards and three TDs in the loss.

Archbishop Williams 42, Cardinal Spellman 14: The Bishops improve to 5-6 while the Cardinals drop to 7-4. Devin Sheehan intercepted three passes in the win, returning one for a TD. Joseph Schwartz threw for a TD and ran for another. Luke Charlton ran for 79 yards and a TD.

Thursday

Abington 46, Whitman-Hanson 6: The Green Wave (8-3) sent retiring coach Jim Kelliher off in style, outscoring the host Panthers 32-0 in the second half. Michael Reilly threw TD passes of 47 and 75 yards to Ryan Simonetti, A.J. Nash scored on runs of 50, 8 and 46 yards, and Will LeBlanc had a 9-yard TD run and a 35-yard pick-six that completed the scoring. Kelliher, who spent 50 seasons guiding the Green Wave, bows out with a career record of 313-209-8. He won 15 of his last 21 Thanksgiving games in the series. The Panthers finish 4-7; they still lead the all-time series 61-48-3.

Rockland 42, East Bridgewater 21: Jordan Depina rushed for 233 yards and four TDs, and Joe Earner ran for 158 yards and two scores to power the Bulldogs (7-4) over the Vikings (3-8) at home. EB got TD runs from Aidan Clancy (53 yards) and James Madden (4 yards), plus a 40-yard TD reception by Gavin McLoud.

North Quincy 43, Quincy 20: The Raiders (5-6) beat the Presidents (3-8) in the city rivalry. NQ led 21-6 at halftime. Mikey Galligan threw for three TD passes in the win while Ben Hudach scored three (2 rushing, 1 receiving).

West Bridgewater 48, Southeastern 0: The Wildcats (8-3) beat the Hawks (6-5) at home. Sam Salter and James Harris each scored three TDs in the win. Christian Packard returned an interception for a TD.

Hull 10, Cohasset 3: The Pirates (5-5) beat the Skippers (6-5) at home. Luke Dunham scored the lone TD on a muffed snap on a field goal and ran 35 yards for a TD. Nick Tiani and John Truglia each had an interception.

Pembroke 27, Silver Lake 21: The Titans (4-7) beat the Lakers (3-8) on the road. The Titans rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit. Will Johnson scored two rushing TDs, including the winner. Owen Pace threw a TD pass to Will McNamara and Brendan Kanya added a rushing TD. Mike Beauchesne (2) and Sam Laidlaw scored in the loss.

Duxbury 23, Marshfield 21: In a battle of two Super Bowl-bound teams, the host Dragons (10-1) rode a three-TD, 292-yard game from Alex Barlow to a win over the Rams (9-3). Gavin Hammond kicked the winning field (23 yards) midway through the fourth quarter.

Catholic Memorial 50, BC High 22: The visiting Knights (8-3) finished in a three-way tie for the Catholic Conference title by beating the Eagles (6-5) on the road. Marshall Rice, Jacob Bierenbroodspot and Conrad Babka scored in the loss.

Braintree 33, Milton 19: The Wamps (7-4) beat the Wildcats (8-4) at home.

Norwell 32, Hanover 0: The host Clippers (9-2) handed the Hawks (11-1) their first loss. Jack Luccarelli ran for a TD and threw TD passes to Ryan Luccarelli and Drew Lascano. Ryan Fitzgerald and Connor O'Hare each had a rushing TD.

Bridgewater-Raynham 22, Brockton 7: The Trojans (4-7) beat the Boxers (3-8) at home. Caleb Tripp rushed for two TDs and 132 yards in the win. Brockton's Jailen Jackson returned an interception for a TD.

Canton 19, Stoughton 0: The Bulldogs (7-4) blanked the Black Knights (4-7) on the road. Owen Lane ran for a TD and threw two TD passes to Ruairi Ritson.

Scituate 13, Hingham 10: The Sailors (9-3) beat the Harbormen (3-8) on the road. Ronan Manning earned MVP honors in the win with 10 tackles and a sack. Jackson Belsan threw a TD pass to Alex Burrill and Grayson Foley had a 15-yard TD run in the win. Jake Varholak threw a TD pass to Will St. Pierre and Harry Bradshaw kicked a field goal in the loss.

Plymouth North 28, Plymouth South 7: The Blue Eagles (4-7) won the town battle over the Panthers (6-5). Shamus Whiting threw two TD passes to Logan Zemotel and ran for another in the win. Killian Murphy also chipped in a TD.

Walpole 44, Weymouth 20: The Wildcats (7-4) fell to the Timberwolves (9-3).

Sharon 42, Oliver Ames 6: The Tigers (1-9) lost at home to Sharon (4-7).

Middleboro 56, Carver 0: The Sachems (8-3) defeated the Div. 8 Super Bowl-bound Crusaders (11-1).
