UND 7, Western Illinois 0, 8:55 left: After not seeing a trick play for a couple of games, UND busts one out on first-and-10 from the 45. Jake Richter takes a reverse and throws a deep ball to a wide open Bo Belquist for the touchdown. It was UND's first drive, which received a key third-and-9 pickup from an Otis Weah catch early in the drive.

UND 7, Western Illinois 7, 5:02 left: With the help of a running-into-the-kicker penalty, Western Illinois' second drive receives new life. The Leathernecks take advantage with a 51-yard pass from Connor Sampson to Dallas Daniels.

UND 10, Western Illinois 7, 3:43 left: Otis Weah's 64-yard run doesn't lead to a touchdown as the Fighting Hawks have to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Brady Stevens.

Second quarter

UND 10, Western Illinois 10, 14:12 left: The Leathernecks stall in the red zone. On second-and-3 from the 6, UND safety Sammy Fort made a tackle for loss followed by a Sampson incompletion on third down to force the field goal.

UND 17, Western Illinois 10, 4:27 left: After some early struggles in the red zone, UND breaks out when Tommy Schuster and Otis Weah run the option on third-and-2 from the 5. Weah takes on a tackler at about the 3 and carries him into the end zone. The scoring play was set up by Jake Richter's difficult 30-yard catch.

Third quarter

UND 24, Western Illinois 10, 12:52 left: On third-and-7 from the 8, Tommy Schuster hits Brock Boltmann underneath for an 8-yard touchdown catch. UND started the drive rotating between Schuster and Quincy Vaughn with neither quarterback really excelling.

UND 31, Western Illinois 10, 5:36 left: A 59-yard Otis Weah catch and run sets up some unique trickery. Hawks run a reverse with Brock Boltmann, who throws back to quarterback Quincy Vaughn, who easily trots in to the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown.
