LIVE UPDATES: Penn beats Mishawaka in 'Backyard Brawl'. South Bend Riley rolls at Glenn
SOUTH BEND — Week 2 of high school football in Indiana and Opening week north of the border for Tribune-area Michigan teams is in the books.
No. 5 (5A) Mishawaka visits crosstown rival No. 9 (6A) Penn Friday night in the renewal of the classic "Backyard Brawl." It's the first time this decade that the Cavemen and Kingsmen will meet since the longstanding series was interrupted after 2019.
Tribune high school reporter Austin Hough, columnist Tom Noie and photographer Greg Swiercz will be at Penn's Everwise Field for this important clash of programs hitting their strides.
