Lions fans donate to Texans QB Deshaun Watson’s foundation after Detroit fired coach Matt Patricia

The Houston Texans creamed the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving with a 41-25 final at Ford Field in Week 12.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson was stellar, completing 17-of-25 for 318 yards, four touchdowns, and only taking two sacks. The Texans sent Detroit to 4-7 on the season, and handed them their fourth consecutive loss on Thanksgiving.

Lions ownership had enough, and fired Patricia, who had been with the organization since 2018. Detroit also fired general manager Bob Quinn, who had been with the club since 2016.

To show their appreciation for Watson and the Texans freeing them of the scourge of Patricia, Lions fans solicited donations for Deshaun Watson’s foundation.

“Donate $13 for all 13 of Patricia’s wins,” one Detroit fan wrote on the Lions’ subreddit.

Texans fans wanted to show their appreciation for the Lions fans’ giving hearts, but quarterback Matthew Stafford doesn’t have his own charity per se. However, the former 2009 first-round pick gave to Forgotten Harvest, a charity that provides meals to the underserved in Detroit.

Detroit and Houston are both 4-7 on the season, and both have coaching and general manager vacancies. Yet not everyone has to suffer because of it.
