Lions, Buccaneers have 8 former Dolphins in divisional matchup
The Miami Dolphins have been eliminated from the postseason following their 27-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Saturday night.
So, while Dolphins fans prepare for the offseason, there are a number of former Dolphins who are still playing for a Super Bowl championship that they can support.
This Sunday, the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to battle in a divisional-round matchup, and there are _ former Dolphins on their rosters and practice squads.
Here’s a look at which players who once donned the aqua and orange will play in this one:
Lions DE Charles Harris
Harris was a first-round selection of the Dolphins back in 2017 out of Missouri, but he struggled to live up to his draft stock during his three seasons with Miami.
In 41 games, he recorded 61 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two passes defensed and one fumble recovery before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons for a seventh-round pick.
Lions QB Teddy Bridgewater
Bridgewater was signed as a free agent to a one-year deal prior to the 2022 season. He played in five games for the Dolphins due to injuries to Tua Tagovailoa before leaving for the Detroit Lions this season.
In those five games, Bridgewater completed 62% of his passes for 683 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions and a 85.6 passer rating.
Lions DL Benito Jones
Jones was signed by Miami as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss in 2020. He spent his first two seasons with the Dolphins before being cut during 2022 roster cuts.
In six games with the Dolphins, Jones recorded two tackles.
Lions LB Mitchell Agude
Agude signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent back in May after a collegiate career that took him from Riverside Community College to UCLA and then to Miami.
The 24-year-old was cut during final roster cuts, so he never played a regular-season game with the team.
Buccaneers RB Chase Edmonds
Edmonds signed a two-year contract with Miami last offseason but was traded at the deadline as part of the package for linebacker Bradley Chubb.
In eight games for the Dolphins, he rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 2.9 yards per attempt while bringing in another 96 yards and a score on 10 receptions.
Buccaneers CB Dee Delaney
Delaney was claimed by Miami back in 2018 after being waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a rookie. He was quickly moved to their practice squad and was waived the upcoming offseason, so he never played a regular-season game for the Dolphins.
Buccaneers RB Patrick Laird
Laird was signed by Miami as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and spent three seasons with the team before signing with Tampa Bay.
In 37 games with the Dolphins, Laird recorded 244 yards and one touchdown on 3.2 yards per carry. He also added 289 yards on 36 receptions.
Buccaneers WR Raleigh Webb
Webb was signed to Miami’s practice squad after he was cut by the New England Patriots after this past preseason. He was released back in November and never played in a game for the Dolphins.
