Linton-Stockton's Joey Hart commits to Kentucky basketball, John Calipari over IU, Rutgers

Joey Hart will be a Wildcat.

The 6-6 Linton-Stockton star announced his commitment Saturday to Kentucky, following a weekend official visit to the school. Hart was also looking at Indiana and Rutgers.

The Indiana All-Star, who was previously committed to Central Florida, reopened his recruitment following his senior season. Hart averaged 23.7 points per game was a senior for Linton-Stockton, leading the Miners to a Class 2A state finals appearance.

Hart, who finished his high school career with 1,901 points, 424 rebounds and 224 assists, made the trip to Owensboro, Ky., to join the Indiana All-Stars for its game vs. Kentucky. He was unable to play, however, due to a turf toe injury.

"To be honest, I don’t really like the recruiting process," he said in Owensboro. "I wish I didn’t have to do it again, but if it means finding the right place then so be it."

Kentucky lost eight players from last year’s team – four to the NBA draft and four to the transfer portal. Hart originally signed with Central Florida over offers from Ball State, Evansville and Toledo. Several high-major programs reached out to Hart after he was released from his letter of intent, including his Kentucky, Indiana, Rutgers, Butler and Notre Dame.
