Lightning fan invited to arena watch party after neighbor misunderstood his shout of 'Shoot' and called police
Devon Garnett, the fan who had a neighbor call the police after a misunderstanding as he watched Wednesday's Stanley Cup Final game at a friend's house, was invited to the Lightning's arena for a Game 4 watch party Friday night.
Police were called after Garnett shouted, "Shoot," – as in shoot the puck – at the television during Game 3.
"(Lightning defenseman Victor) Hedman was trying to do a little toe drag or something and I wanted him to shoot the puck, so I just screamed out, 'Shoot. Shoot,' " Garnett told WKRN TV.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Natalia Verdina told the Tampa Bay Times that a neighbor thought there was a domestic dispute.
“Four deputies responded and discovered there were no domestic problems at the apartment in question,” Verdina told the newspaper. “It was a roommate screaming at the TV in regards to a Lightning game.”
Garnett tweeted a photo of him meeting Hockey Hall of Famer Dave Andreychuk at Amalie Arena on Friday night.
He also tweeted video of himself at the arena.
