Lenawee Christian’s Brandon Summer was named to the second team.

Also earning all-state recognition was Britton Deerfield coach Darren Shiels, a second team choice in Division 4, and two players who were named honorable mention – Gabe Schnoor of Blissfield in Division 3 and Logan Shiels of BD in Division 4.

Here’s a closer look:

Salenbien, a 6-4 sophomore, was the leading scorer on 20-4 Lenawee Christian at 19.3 points per game. His teammate, Summer, is a 6-2 senior, who averaged 18.9 points a game and closed his career with 191 3-pointers and 1,169 career points. LCS was No. 1 for a long stretch of the season and won the Tri-County Conference.

Logan Shiels averaged 15.7 points a game and finished as BD’s all-time leading scorer. He also averaged 8.5 points, 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game this year.

Darren Shiels was runner-up in coach of the year voting in Division 4 after leading BD to its best season in school history at 18-7 and the first district title since Britton and Deerfield combined.

DIVISION 3

Schnoor led Blissfield to a big rebound season. The Royals won six games last year but more than doubled that this year and a big reason was the play of Schnoor. He averaged 18.8 points a game and scored 30 or more points in two of Blissfield’s final three games.

DIVISION 2

Elam led the county in scoring (28.8 points) and free throw percentage (84.5 percent) and made 61 3-pointers. He was second in the county in rebounds despite playing guard. He already has more than 1,500 career points.

Davis cemented his place among Lenawee County’s all-time greats, leading Onsted to 20 wins, league and district titles and averaging 24.2 points and 14.8 rebounds a game. He finished third in Michigan’s Mr. Basketball voting.

This year's all-state panel consisted of 15 sportswriters from across the state. The AP will release its 2023-24 girls all-state teams beginning Monday.
