LeBron James: OKC's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can carry the torch 'after I'm done'

LeBron James gave high praise to OKC Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander when asked prior to the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday which young players he's most excited to spend some time with in Indianapolis.

"I would say Shai and Ant Man (Anthony Edwards)," James said. "I feel like those are two of the guys who can continue the torch when I'm done, after Steph (Curry) and KD (Kevin Durant)."

Gilgeous-Alexander started alongside James for the West All-Stars.

And even though the team suffered a 211-186 loss to the East, Gilgeous-Alexander shined in what marked the second All-Star appearance of his six-year career. The 25-year-old guard recorded 31 points and six assists in 28 minutes.

Gilgeous-Alexander continues to establish himself as one of the brightest young stars in the NBA. After earning an All-NBA first-team selection last season, he's averaging 31.1 points and 6.5 assists this time around.

Gilgeous-Alexander's strong play has also translated into team success. OKC (37-17) is second in the Western Conference standings, and Gilgeous-Alexander ranks second in NBA.com's latest MVP ladder as a result.
