At least 22 Shreveport-Bossier wrestlers have a chance at an LHSAA state title

No one is ready to get the cart before the horse, but the North DeSoto wrestling team had the kind of day on Friday in the 2024 LHSAA Wrestling State Championships that makes them the favorites to win the Division II state title a day later.

The Griffins moved wrestlers into Saturday’s semifinals in 13 of the 14 weight classes to give coach Dustin Burton and company a shot at hoisting the elusive team trophy.

“We’ve had a good first day and we’ve wrestled tough in some close matches,” Burton said. “We are wrestling smart and fundamental. We have one guy left on the backside of the bracket that we’re focused on. Tomorrow is a whole new day and there’s a whole lot of wrestling left.”
