Lansing Community College's stellar softball season came to an end Wednesday night with an 8-0 loss to South Mountain (Arizona) Community College at the NJCAA Division II World Series in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The 12th-seeded Stars, who finished the season 35-20 (and 1-2 at the World Series), tallied just three hits against 3-seed South Mountain, which put the game away with two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth to enforce the eight-run mercy rule.

The loss came hours after LCC's dramatic win in an elimination game, 7-6 over 13-seed Delaware Tech, extended the Stars' season to Wednesday night.

This was LCC softball's first World Series appearance in five years, since making it three straight seasons from 2016-2018.
