Lansing Catholic's Anna Richards leads area's BCAM all-state selections
Anna Richards finished her career with another strong season for the Lansing Catholic girls basketball team that included surpassing 1,000 career points.
The contributions by the senior guard have led to her earning a spot on the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan's Best of Best team.
Richards was one of 14 players named to BCAM's top all-state team, which features the top players regardless of division. She helped the Cougars win CAAC White and Division 2 district titles this winter and leads a strong contingent of players from Greater Lansing named all-state by BCAM.
DeWitt's Madi Uyl led the Division 1 selections and was named to the top all-state team. Individuals named honorable mention all-state in Division 1 included Grand Ledge's Alayna Armstrong, Holt's Rhema Dozier and DeWitt's Tara Kurncz.
Alma's Gracie Mellinger was named to the top all-state team in Division 2, while Haslett's Christina Dixon, Williamston's Reese Gaytan and Portland's Malia Thelen were honorable mention selections.
Dansville's Megan Zeitz led the Division 3 selections and was named to the top team. Ovid-Elsie's Ava Bates and Evalyn Cole, Pewamo-Westphalia's Elly Bengel, Ithaca's Ivy Davenport, Stockbridge's Alaina Kellenberger and Bath's Aubri Torok were named honorable mention all-state.
Greater Lansing's Best of Best honorees in Division 4 were Portland St. Patrick's Laynie Meredith, Morrice's Aubrey Rogers and Fowler's Katie Spicer. Honorable mention selections included Lansing Christian's Lydia Brogan, Morrice's Payton Goodine and Portland St. Patrick's Grace Rockey.
