Lincoln, Auburn pick up Tuesday wins, and other boys hoops results around Springfield

Here are the boys basketball results around Springfield for Monday and Tuesday:

Tuesday's results

LINCOLN 64, BLOOMINGTON 32: At Bloomington, Lincoln led 16-3 after one period and rolled to a nonconference victory.

The Railers (14-6) benefited from 28 Bloomington turnovers and shot 52% from the field. Karson Komnick made 6 of 12 shots and scored a game-high 16 points with a pair of two 3-pointers. Drew Hayes finished 5-for-5 from the floor and netted 12 points, while Aidan Gowin hit two 3s and chipped in 10.

Jeremiah Pilant made 4 of 5 shots and had two 3s to lead winless Bloomington (0-17) with 10 points.

MAROA-FORSYTH 48, ROCHESTER 34: At the Rochester Athletic Complex, Maroa-Forsyth outscored the Rockets 22-9 in the fourth period and secured a nonconference win.

The Trojans (11-6) led 26-25 entering the fourth quarter and then Zayn Giles scored 10 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth to lead Maroa-Forsyth. He had 17 in the second half. Caebrin Lee scored seven in the fourth quarter and finished with 15 points, while Kaiden Maurer got into double digits with 10.

Henry Buecker totaled 12 points for Rochester (9-13).

AUBURN 56, PITTSFIELD 42: At Pittsfield, Auburn took control in the second and third quarters and posted a nonconference victory.

The game was tied 14-14 after one before the Trojans outscored the Saukees 25-14 over the next two periods. Cooper Carter nailed four 3-pointers to lead Auburn with 14 points and teammate Clayton Kessler netted 10 of his 12 points in the middle quarters.

Auburn’s Carter Hunley finished with 10 points and Grant Dobson followed with eight as the Trojans upped their record to 18-2.  

ATHENS 63, MANITO MIDWEST CENTRAL 31: At Athens, Zac Laird poured in a game-high 24 points and the Warriors won a Tomahawk Conference game.

Laird had 17 points in the first half to help Athens build a 39-22 halftime lead. Pryor Reynolds added 10 points and Ashtyn Janssen finished with nine for the Warriors (12-7 overall, 4-2 in the Tomahawk).

SOUTH COUNTY 64, PAWNEE 30: At Franklin, Noah Lyons buried two 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points to lift the Vipers to an MSM Conference win.

Trevor Colwell also hit two 3s and scored 11, and Caden Colwell had nine for South County (17-6 overall), which improved to 5-0 in the MSM.

BETHALTO CIVIC MEMORIAL 74, LITCHFIELD 63: At the Rick McGraw Invitational in Litchfield, the host Purple Panthers dropped into the fifth-place bracket with the loss.

Litchfield got behind 28-20 at halftime and Adam Ogden helped Civic Memorial secure the win by scoring 23 of his game-high 34 points after intermission. Ogden finished with two 3-pointers and went 16-for-19 from the free throw line.

August Frankford scored 11 of his 16 points in the final two quarters for Civic Memorial, which plays Alton Marquette in the semifinals of the championship bracket.

Victor McGill dropped in 16 points in the second half to pace Litchfield with a team-high 23 points. AJ Odle nailed three 3s and had 10 points for Litchfield, which plays Roxana on Thursday.

TROY TRIAD 44, NOKOMIS 29: At the Rick McGraw Invitational in Litchfield, Nokomis made just 11 buckets and fell into the semifinals of the fifth-place bracket.

Mason Stauder led Nokomis with nine points and Reece Lohman had eight points and seven rebounds. Nokomis plays Greenville on Thursday.

Drew Winslow scored eight points in each half and provided Triad with a game-high 16 points. Tyler Thompson made a couple of 3-pointers, went 5-for-6 from the line and scored 13 in the win.

Triad plays Mattoon on Friday in the championship bracket semifinals.  

Monday's results

LANPHIER 48, CHICAGO HYDE PARK 46: At the new Lober-Nika Gymnasium, JaiQuan Holman went 8 of 10 from the free throw line and led the Lions with 16 points in the MLK Shootout win.

Jessie Bates went 7 of 13 from the field and finished with 15 points while Soriano Hayes went 7 of 10 from the free throw line to end up with 11 points. Lanphier (10-9) led 32-31 after three quarters.

Christopher Thomas paced Hyde Park (12-6) with 11 points.

NEW BERLIN 42, SPRINGFIELD HIGH 38: At the MLK Shootout, Gannon Dodd and Lucas Bixby each contributed 15 points in the win.

Bixby also had 15 rebounds. Tanner Frye hit two 3s and finished with eight points. The Pretzels rallied ahead 29-28 after three quarters after trailing 14-8 by the end of the first period.

Elijah Wade and Brody Scheffler had eight points apiece for SHS.

SOUTHEAST 80, LUTHERAN 17: At the MLK Shootout, six players registered at least eight points in the win for the Spartans.

Reggie Rice led the Spartans with 15 points, followed by Lebron Kittrell (14), Rakim Higgerson (13) and Dom Hobbs (11). Aaron Holman and Anthony Williams had eight points apiece.

Southeast led 31-5 after the first quarter.

ROXANA 41, PANA 39: At the Rick McGraw Invite in Litchfield, Aidan Briggs chalked up seven of his 14 points in the first period and the Shells escaped with the win.

Hayden Blackwell (16 points) and Ethan Hicks (15 points) combined for five 3s in the loss.

BETHALTO CIVIC MEMORIAL 80, HILLSBORO 60: At the Rick McGraw Invite, DJ Dutton delivered eight 3s and led Civic Memorial with 24 points.

He had seven 3s by halftime. Gavin Matoush poured in five 3s and totaled 27 points for Hillsboro.

GREENVILLE 50, TAYLORVILLE 29: At the Rick McGraw Invite, Desmond Gardner contributed 19 points in the Comets’ dominant win.

Jake McConnell had six points for Taylorville.

NOKOMIS 43, GLEN CARBON FATHER MCGIVNEY 35: At the Rick McGraw Invite, Reece Lohman scored 14 of his game 20 points in the first half to catapult NHS.

Lohman also had seven rebounds and four blocks. Kennedy DeWerff hit two 3s and had 12 points.
