Lakers will wear ‘Black Mamba’ uniforms on Thursday to honor Kobe Bryant

This Thursday will be a big day for the Los Angeles Lakers. For one thing, it is the NBA trade deadline, and they have been mentioned in seemingly a million rumors involving a wide number of players they’re reportedly interested in.

But Thursday will also be the day they posthumously unveil a statue of the great Kobe Bryant outside of Crypto.com Arena.

Bryant and eight others were tragically killed in a helicopter crash four years ago, but his memory, spirit and legacy will forever live on, especially in Southern California, where he was treated like a prince.

When the Lakers take on the Denver Nuggets hours after the unveiling of the statue, they will wear their “Black Mamba” jerseys to pay further tribute to the deceased legend.

Perhaps the best way the team can honor Bryant’s memory is to deliver an upset victory over the defending world champs on Thursday. It just wrapped up its six-game “Grammy” road trip with a solid 4-2 mark and is currently on a three-game winning streak.
