Lafayette 70, Navy 47

After a slow start, Lafayette got hot from the field, building a 15-point halftime lead on its way to a 70-47 win Saturday at Navy.

Joey Ptasinski, who made 4 of 5 3-pointers and scored 15 points, led the Leopards (12-13, 5-3 Patriot League), who shot 52 percent (24 of 46) from the field and 8 of 16 from behind the arc.

Dan Trist added 13 points for Lafayette, and Seth Heinrichs had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Worth Smith's 13 points led the Midshipmen (7-17, 1-7), who shot 37 percent from the field (19 of 51).

Brandon Venturini, who scored 23 points and made seven 3-pointers for Navy in the first game between the two teams, was held without a shot in the first half and scored just six points.

The Midshipmen scored the first eight points of the game and made five of their first six shots from the field before going 4 of 18 the rest of the first half.

After their slow start, the Leopards shot 55 percent from the field in the half and made 7 of 9 3-pointers to take a 35-20 halftime lead.

Lafayette started the second half where it left off the first, scoring nine of the first 10 points, with Ptasinski making his fourth straight 3-pointer before Venturini made his first shot of the game, a 3-pointer of his own.
