Lady Bulldogs swim team splits at New Castle

Nov. 17—NEW CASTLE — The Lady Bulldogs opened the season with a road trip to New Castle Thursday. Batesville squared off against the host Lady Trojans and Eastern Hancock.

Batesville split on the night, defeating Eastern Hancock 68-53 and falling to New Castle 90-61.

Overall, the Lady Bulldogs swam extremely well against tough competition, according to Coach Greg McMullen. Junior Sarah Bedel led the team, time-wise, besting two personal bests individually.

The Lady Bulldogs' lone event win on the night came on a come-from-behind victory in the 200 freestyle relay.

"We came out strong tonight," Coach McMullen said. "We really wanted to set the tone for our season tonight and clearly the ladies were willing to put their skills to the test."
