Ladarius Henderson, remaining pieces of Michigan football's 2023 class enroll

Michigan football's roster appears to be set for the 2023 season.

And so does its starting offensive line.

As of Wednesday morning, all remaining 17 signees for the upcoming season — both from the transfer portal and the high school class of 2023 — who had not officially enrolled at U-M, are now in the academic database. That includes Ladarius Henderson; a former captain and multi-year starter at Arizona State who has widely been projected to replace Ryan Hayes at left tackle and blindside protector for quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound standout who played 29 games at both tackle and guard across parts of four seasons in Tempe was the program's first transfer portal pickup for the 2023 season; he committed back in December, but wasn't able to immediately enroll until he finished his ASU coursework.

Out of thousands of prospects in the portal, Henderson was rated the 16th-best available and third-best among offensive linemen.

The other two linemen U-M brought in as transfers as it looks to extend its Joe Moore Award streak to three consecutive seasons in Myles Hinton and Drake Nugent also didn’t practice in the spring, though they did enroll.

Michigan's eight-man transfer class, which was capped off by Saline native and former Louisville kicker James Turner this spring, was ranked the nation's best per 247Sports composite rankings.

As for its 2023 recruiting class, which was No. 17 in the nation, nine rising-freshmen enrolled early last winter, eight of whom traveled with the team to Arizona (Amir Herring was in Orlando for the Under Armour All-American game) for the Fiesta Bowl.

The other 16 members of the freshmen class have trickled in since Michigan's spring game six-week spring practice period wrapped up on April 1.

That includes Enow Etta, a four-star defensive end (No. 120 overall) from Texas and U-M's top rated recruit in the class, four-star wide receiver Karmello English and three-star quarterback Kendrick Bell; named the best best player in Kansas City and younger brother of U-M's leading wide receiver last year, Ronnie Bell.
