Former Elder High School standout Kyle Rudolph is a free agent, and hasn't announced his National Football League retirement.

But The Athletic's Pete Sampson reported that Rudolph, who signed a one-year deal last July with Tampa Bay and caught three passes for 28 yards with a touchdown over nine games last season for the Buccaneers, is expected to be a color commentator for Big Ten football games on NBC and Peacock.

Rudolph, 33, got his first taste of broadcasting earlier this year, calling USFL games and Notre Dame's spring game for NBC. Sampson reported that Rudolph said his experience with the Fighting Irish was "100 percent … without question the reason why" the opportunity with NBC presented itself.

Over 12 NFL seasons, including the first 10 with the Minnesota Vikings, Rudolph has 482 receptions for 4,773 yards with 50 TDs.
