LAWRENCE — Kansas Athletics announced earlier this month that Late Night in the Phog will be held Oct. 6, a Friday, inside Allen Fieldhouse.

The event, which started in 1985, will help the Jayhawks celebrate the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball seasons. It’ll include scrimmages from those teams, among other activities. And according to the Kansas release, more details will be revealed on a later date.

Jayhawks men’s basketball coach Bill Self’s squad will be coming off of another Big 12 Conference regular season championship. It’ll do so with a much different looking roster, considering the turnover that’s taken place in recent months. Many view it as both a Big 12 Conference and national championship contender.

Jayhawks women’s basketball coach Brandon Schneider’s squad will be coming off of a 2023 Postseason WNIT title. Although Schneider and company fell short of another NCAA tournament appearance, and they’ve experienced some roster turnover themselves, a lot of experience still returns. They should be in position to compete for a Big 12 championship of their own.
