Kris Jenkins declares for NFL draft with emotional signoff video

One of the benefactors of last year’s one more year fund, Michigan football defensive tackle Kris Jenkins Jr. opted to come back to Ann Arbor for one last ride before heading off to the NFL.

And it paid off handsomely with a national championship.

Jenkins arrived in Ann Arbor in 2020 with little fanfare. The son of an NFL player, he was a three-star recruit, but it only took until his sophomore year for it to become clear he was much more than what the recruiting services had seen in him. Beyond his playing ability, his personality endeared him to the fan base and he became one of the favorites of many on the Wolverines.

Though he has another year of eligibility remaining, Jenkins has decided to head to the NFL draft, and he did so narrating an emotional video set to the J. Cole song, ‘Love Yourz.’

Nicknamed “the Mutant,” for his seemingly supernatural ability on the football field, Jenkins will likely be a first- or second-day NFL draft pick. A team captain on this past year’s squad, he’ll forever be remembered fondly for what he did for the program while wearing a winged helmet.
