MONMOUTH — The Knoxville High School boys basketball team held a five point lead over United after the first quarter of play Friday night in Lincoln Trail Conference action.

The Blue Bullets advantage dwindled to three points by the intermission, and for most of the final 16 minutes the contest was a back-and-forth affair.

However, Knoxville pulled away late for a 67-63 victory over United.

The Blue Bullets' final nine points came at the charity stripe against the Red Storm.

United senior Cormaic Flynn ended up with a game-high 32 points, and junior Abel Wilson added 13 points for the Red Storm (13-4, 0-2).

Knoxville (13-3, 2-0) had four players finish with double digits. Junior Braden Downs led the way with 21 points — 10 of which came in the second quarter — and he had 10 rebounds. Senior David Hise finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, junior Beau Honeycutt came off the bench and chipped in 14 points, and senior Bryar Fleisher had 11 points for the Blue Bullets.
