Do you know these two Shasta Family YMCA Athletes of the Week?

One softball and baseball player are being recognized for their outstanding achievements on the field.

This week, a Foothill and U-Prep high school student-athlete are being highlighted. It's time to meet the two Shasta Family YMCA Athletes of the Week for their accomplishments over the last few weeks.

Sport: Softball

School: Foothill

Class: Junior

Last week's YMCA Athletes of Week: Do you know these two Shasta Family YMCA Athletes of the Week?

Team contributions: Foothill sits in second place in the Eastern Athletic (17-4, 5-1) with just four regular season games left to play. Wiegand has helped the Cougars this season, pumping out 25 hits, 25 RBIs, 17 runs, seven home runs, six doubles and one triple. The pitcher also has struck out 74 batters in 55 2/3 innings. Foothill takes on Enterprise Tuesday followed by Pleasant Valley at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

School: U-Prep

Class: Junior

Team contributions: Despite a rocky start, U-Prep sits in third place (8-18, 5-4) in the Northern League. Martin has helped the team along the way, recording 15 hits, 12 RBIs and holds the highest batting average and fielding percentage. The Panthers have two regular season games left, the first against Red Bluff at 6 p.m. Wednesday and followed by Lassen at 7 p.m. Thursday.
