Kitna to donate salary to Tacoma high school

Quarterback Jon Kitna, who signed with Dallas this week after texting coach Jason Garrett when he heard that Tony Romo was hurt, will earn $53,000 for his one game on the roster. Kitna said he plans to donate the money to Lincoln High in Tacoma, Wash., where Kitna now teaches math and coaches football.

Kitna said that Wednesday on the Cowboys radio show. Kitna, 41, retired after the 2011 season and started coaching at Lincoln in 2012. Kitna’s son is the quarterback of the team. If Romo, who reportedly will not play again this season, can’t play Sunday against Philadelphia, Kitna will be the backup to starter Kyle Orton.
