GREEN BAY – If the NFL Draft were held this week in Green Bay, the weather would be pretty normal for this time of year, which would be a good thing.

Weather is important for draft events, many of which are held outdoors, but hasn't been a overriding factor in any of the northern sites where it's been held since it went on the road in 2015. Green Bay has a reputation as "The Frozen Tundra," but in truth isn't much different than Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Kansas City or Detroit, which were hosts to six of the last 10 drafts.

Green Bay will host the NFL Draft on April 24-26, 2025, mostly around Lambeau Field. Organizers expect an attendance of 250,000 over the three days, with a local economic impact of $20 million. The draft this year is in Detroit, running today through Saturday.

High temperatures for the next three days in Green Bay are expected to be 59 today, 58 on Friday and 75 on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 100% chance of rain on Friday night and a 60% chance on Saturday.

Temperatures during past drafts were in the 50s through 70s in Chicago in 2015, in the 40s and 50s in Chicago in 2016, in the 60s in Philadelphia in 2017, in the 50s and 60s in Cleveland in 2021, and in the 50s through 70s in Kansas City in 2023. The Detroit forecast calls for 55 degrees today, 65 on Friday and 75 on Saturday, with similar chances of rain as in Green Bay.

The odds of bad weather, even a snowstorm, in Green Bay at the end of April are never zero, but they are not large. The normal temperatures for the last days of April range from 59 to 61 degrees. Last year, the temperatures on the three days of the draft were 55 degrees, 61 and 46. In 2022, they were 53, 71 and 54, and the year before that 67, 59 and 84.

The last time a notable amount of snow fell this late in April was in 2008, when it totaled 1.3 inches on April 28. Temperatures were in the 40s and above in following days and the snow melted quickly.
