Kilee Ivy ties for 2nd, leads Seminole to state girls golf tournament
Seminole finished third in the team standings of the Region I-4A girls golf tournament Thursday to claim a spot in the Class 4A state tournament.
Kilee Ivy tied with three other golfers for second in the individual standings, shooting a 149 to lead the Seminole contingent. Andrews Black's Emme Darnold and Emma Carrasco and Canyon's Lauren Robason also shot 149s. Monahans' Annika Armendariz shot a 148 to win the individual title.
Makenna Neufeld finished 10th, Maggie Duncan 13th, Presley Roberts 17th and Chloe Doerksen 27th to round out the Seminole contingent.
Andrews Black shot a 612 to win the team title and Canyon came in second at 636.
Region I-5A
Amarillo Black had two of the top three individual finishers to win the team title in the Region I-5A girls golf tournament Thursday.
Charlee Thacker and teammate Addi Britten each shot 148s to tie for second to lead Amarillo to the championship. Joshua's Kaylee Yuan shot a 147 to win the individual crown.
Argyle (638) came in second and Colleyville Heritage (649) third behind Amarillo Black, which shot a 609 for the two-day event. Lubbock-Cooper came in fifth at 688. Cooper's Ella Murphree and Coronado's Sara Tie each shot 170s.
Region I-1A
Both Borden County golf team secured their spots in the Class 1A state meet after the girls team finished off the Region I-1A championship on Thursday. The boys claimed second on Tuesday.
The girls claimed four of the top seven spots individually to claim the team title with a total score of 766. Grady came in second at 839. Klondike took third as a team.
BK Behrens finished third with a 184 with Kenlei Estes coming in fourth at 193. Kenzie White (195) and Tynslee Horton (200) took sixth and seventh.
Grace Stevens shot a 181 to lead the Klondike contingent, taking second individually.
Koda Bigham shot a 160 to finish second individually to guide the Borden County boys to the runner-up finish. Springlake-Earth took third in the team standings led by Slade Beerwinkle, who also finished third, shooting a 164.
Borden County's Garrison Proctor and Springlake-Earth's Tyler Tanaro tied for fifth at 166.
