The New Orleans Saints need to be ashamed of themselves.

Injuries Big names will sit out this week

There’s point number one.

They lost 45-32 to the Atlanta Falcons. In other words, it’ll be no playoffs for them after all. It doesn’t matter if Von Miller, J.J. Watt, Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Luke Kuechly and Chris Harris Jr. join them tomorrow. The Saints will always find ways to put on an embarrassing performance defensively.

Let’s get to the key takeaways

This defense sucks

When you blog for years, you learn that the word “suck,” isn’t professional. But honestly, I thought it was literally, scientifically impossible for the Saints defense to be three quarters as bad in 2016 as it was last year. Turns out, it’s much worse.

Matt Ryan had 240 yards and two touchdowns and the Falcons only had 217 rushing yards. Devonta Freeman had 152, but Tevin Coleman had three rushing touchdowns.

Atlanta’s 45 points happened with Julio Jones catching one pass for 16 yards, if you care.

Coby Fleener arrives

Unfortunately for Fleener, nobody is going to remember the night he came out and joined the party for the Saints. Seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown suggest he’s finally found his way into the Saints offense.

Then again, the team lost. So…

Ground game established

The Saints finally ran a well-balanced offense. Mark Ingram had 77 rushing yards and the team totaled 115 on the ground. A great day to be a Mark Ingram fantasy owner.

Time for changes

Don’t kid yourselves: The Saints are 0-3. Other teams know as long as they score 30 points, they have a win locked up against this team. It’s sad, but true.

Dennis Allen and Sean Payton shouldn’t survive this week, but they will. The Saints should try to play for pride and make changes, but GM Mickey Loomis won’t have any interest. Another great year from Drew Brees, another waste.
