Kevin Porter Jr., Josh Christopher join JH-Town Weekend in Houston

New Rockets guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Josh Christopher joined former Houston star James Harden at his 2021 JH-Town Weekend, which raises charity funds for local initiatives via his “3 The Harden Way” nonprofit. Porter Jr. and Christopher were each acquired by the Rockets following Harden’s forced trade to Brooklyn in January.

Since then, the former MVP has made it clear that his exit had nothing to do with the city where he played eight-plus NBA seasons, and the 32-year-old is following through on a pledge to continue helping Houston. As part of that plan, Harden brought together a variety of athletes and celebrities for his various weekend events, and Porter Jr. and Christopher were willing and eager to help out at Sunday’s charity softball game.

According to fans at the game, which was held at Rice University’s Reckling Park, Porter Jr. played for Harden’s team. Meanwhile, Christopher competed for the opponent, which was led by rapper Travis Scott. On the field, Team Scott reportedly crushed Team Harden by a 17-2 margin. Harden’s JH-Town Weekend also featured a variety of events (sports, concerts, and social) in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The weekend was skipped in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is now back in place, even with Harden no longer playing for the city’s basketball team.
