A simmering podcast beef has boiled over into an ugly Twitter feud between Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant and Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum.

Durant joined McCollum’s podcast with Yahoo Sports’ Jordan Schultz last week for a discussion on what it means to be a winner in the NBA that prompted Durant to dis his Western Conference rival.

Championship dis sparks bickering between rivals

“You know you guys aren’t going to win a championship,” Durant told McCollum.

The insult apparently cut deep with McCollum, who had some harsh words on Twitter Wednesday when Barstool’s Big Cat asked if using “the B word” about Durant was appropriate.

Durant, in typical fashion, didn’t take long to shoot back, calling McCollum a snake in the grass about 30 minutes later.

McCollum didn’t immediately reply, but Durant had plenty more to say to other social media critics.

Durant promised he was done with the subject when somebody criticized him for being sensitive.

McCollum took a couple of hours to craft a composed response while claiming that the obvious feud was, in fact, not a feud.

Durant, McCollum have been going at it on podcast

The conversation started in Part 1 of a two-part discussion between Durant and McCollum on McCollum’s “Pull Up” podcast that centered around Durant’s and DeMarcus Cousins’ decisions to join the Warriors.

Yahoo’s Ben Rohrbach gives a nice breakdown of the conversation here, which provided McCollum’s candid reaction to the construction of the Warriors superteam.

“I was hot,” McCollum said about Golden State signing Cousins. “I don’t know if I was more mad than when you wanted to go. I think I was more mad when he did it.”

“Why are you mad about this stuff?” asked Durant in response.

“Bro, I’m in the league,” said McCollum. “What do you mean, ‘Why am I mad about this stuff?’ I’m in the Western Conference. I’ve got to play you M.F.-ers all the time anyway as it is, over and over again. We’ve gotten eliminated by you guys a few times in the first round, so I’m looking at [Cousins].”

That response led to Durant’s championship dis, which ultimately led to McCollum calling Durant’s move to Golden State soft, which led to more 2018 NBA Twitter drama to keep us all entertained during the offseason.
