Kentucky High School Boys Basketball Media Poll features two new teams in the top 15

There was no change at the top of this week’s Kentucky High School Boys Basketball Media Poll, but there are two new teams in the top 15.

Great Crossing (17-1) kept its spot on top of the poll, receiving 11 of the 16 first-place votes. No. 2 Lyon County (18-1) received five first-place votes and once again was followed by Lexington Catholic (18-1), Trinity (15-4) and Covington Catholic (13-4) in the top five.

Bryan Station (15-1) and North Oldham (15-2) are newcomers to the top 15. No. 13 Bryan Station beat previously unbeaten Henry Clay 77-51 on Friday. North Oldham, tied for No. 14, defeated No. 12 Evangel Christian 85-75 last Tuesday.

Frederick Douglass and DeSales dropped out of the top 15.

The Kentucky High School Basketball Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released each week throughout the regular season.

Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
