Kentucky baseball All-State teams: Christian County's Elijah Underhill named Mr. Baseball

Christian County High School’s Elijah Underhill has been named Kentucky’s 2023 Mr. Baseball by the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Underhill, a senior pitcher/outfielder, batted .430 with eight home runs, nine doubles, four triples and 28 RBIs for a Christian County team that went 25-12 and lost to Henderson County in the Second Region final. He also led the Colonels in runs scored (54) and stolen bases (34).

On the mound, Underhill was 6-4 with one save and a 2.65 ERA. The Eastern Kentucky University signee posted 115 strikeouts in 66 innings.

Underhill is the first Mr. Baseball winner to come from Christian County.

Six players from the Louisville area received first-team All-State honors from the KHSBCA — Fern Creek’s Ashton Prechtel, Trinity’s Kyle Campbell and Dane Morrow, St. Xavier’s Jake Gregor and Cooper Smith and Spencer County’s Bradley Coulter.
