Kentucky baseball to host NCAA Tournament regional for 2nd straight season, 4th time ever

LEXINGTON — For the second straight year, Kentucky baseball will stay at home for the opening round of NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats were named one of 16 national hosts Sunday night, giving them the right to host an NCAA regional for the fourth time. Kentucky's previous years hosting were 2006, 2017 and 2023.

UK on Monday will learn the three schools it will welcome to Kentucky Proud Park for this week's Lexington Regional, which begins Friday. The tournament selection show will start at noon Monday, revealing all 64 teams, the seedings and the bracket for this year's field.

Last year, Kentucky beat Indiana in a winner-take-all game to capture the regional championship. That moved UK into super regionals for only the second time ever. Kentucky never has advanced past the super regional round, however, losing twice on the road: 2017 (to Louisville) and 2023 (to LSU).
