Kemp Alderman selected by Miami in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft
Jul. 9—Ole Miss outfielder Kemp Alderman was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the second round (47th overall) in the 2023 MLB Draft on Sunday. The Decatur, Mississippi native was a second-team All-SEC pick in 2023 after hitting a team-best .376 with 19 home runs and 61 RBIs. He started 112 games over the last two seasons, spending most of the 2022 season as the Rebels' designated hitter and the 2023 campaign in the outfield.
Alderman hit 30 home runs over the last two seasons with 106 RBIs. He also pitched in two games last season out of the bullpen, striking out four with two walks over 1.2 innings of work.
