Kaukauna, Freedom lead high school softball teams into sectionals; Kimberly tops in baseball rankings

Here are area high school baseball and softball rankings through games from Saturday.

Softball

1, Kaukauna (25-0): Ghosts blast De Pere 10-0 to advance to a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal Tuesday against Ashwaubenon. Team has won 76 consecutive games and head coach Tim Roehrig recently surpassed the 500-win milestone.

2, Freedom (23-2): Irish rout North Eastern Conference foe Denmark 12-2 in D2 regional final. Will battle another league foe Marinette in a sectional semifinal Tuesday.

3, Neenah (20-6): Rockets continue to play well and are coming off 4-1 victory over Beaver Dam in a D1 regional final. Will travel to Oshkosh West on Tuesday for sectional semifinal.

4, New London (16-6): Bay Conference champions knock off Mosinee 3-1 in D2 regional final. Will travel to Medford for sectional semifinal Tuesday. Senior Kenna Mix is 16-4 in the circle with 145 strikeouts in 113-plus innings with a 1.42 ERA. Also batting .448 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs.

5, St. Mary Catholic (15-7): Zephyrs still alive in D4 playoffs after 4-2 victory over Reedsville in regional final. Will travel to Algoma for sectional semifinal Tuesday. Senior Naveah Saringer is 10-3 with a 2.11 ERA and is also batting .409 with five home runs and 29 RBI.

Others: Chilton (20-4), Kimberly (19-9), Menasha (17-9), Hortonville (17-10), Winneconne (15-11), Seymour (9-7), Weyauwega-Fremont (13-8), Brillion (12-10).

Baseball

1, Kimberly (22-4): Top-seeded Papermakers capture Fox Valley Association title for the fourth consecutive season. Team will host winner of Appleton East/Pulaski in a WIAA D1 regional final Thursday.

2, Hortonville (21-4): Second-seeded Polar Bears finish second in Fox Valley Association and battle winner of West De Pere/Kaukauna in D1 regional final on Thursday.

3, Chilton (21-2): Tigers earn No. 1 seed in D2 but see 20-game win streak snapped in 7-4 loss to Kewaunee in regular-season finale. Will host Waupaca in regional semifinal Tuesday.

4, Menasha (17-6): Bluejays are No. 2 seed in their D1 sectional and host winner of Neenah/Hartford on Thursday in a regional final.

5, Appleton North (15-8): Lightning has back-to-back losses to Fond du Lac (6-0) and Kimberly (8-7) and drops a spot in rankings. Will battle Green Bay Preble on Tuesday in a D1 regional semifinal.

Others: Little Chute (15-7), Fox Valley Lutheran (16-9), Clintonville (12-9), St. Mary Catholic (14-5), Shiocton (15-6), Xavier (15-8), Wrightstown (13-9), Freedom (12-10).
