Just how accurate is the movie ‘Hustle’ when portraying NBA scouting?

Most fans of the Boston Celtics and the NBA more generally have seen the film called “Hustle” on Netflix. Cast with former Celtics forward Juancho Hernangomez as a rising Spanish NBA prospect discovered by Adam Sandler’s Philadelphia 76ers scout character, it has “Bo Cruz” — Hernangomez — playing for (SPOILER ALERT) Celtics by the end of the movie.

As good as the film was, just how accurate of a take is it on the job of an NBA team’s international scouts? Did “Hustle” get it right in the opinion of those who actually do that work on a daily basis?

In a recent episode of the team-produced “View from the Rafters” podcast, actual international scouts like Austin Ainge open up on how the job actually works in real life.

To hear how accurate Netflix’s “Hustle” was portraying international scouts, take a look at the clip embedded above.
