Juan Soto says Blake Snell would be 'great fit' for Yankees

With Blake Snell still a free agent, the possibility of the Yankees signing him remains.

SNY's Andy Martino recently reported that a deal between Snell and the Yanks is unlikely, but Juan Soto is pushing for it.

"It would be unbelievable to have two Cy Young winners going back to back, it’d be great,” Soto told Jon Heyman of The New York Post. "[Snell’s] a great guy, a great player. Any help that we can get I would love."

Added Soto: "I know if he’s coming over, he’s going to help the team big-time. It’s always great to have great talent on the team. I would never say no. So it’s a great fit for him, I think."

Soto, like Snell, is represented by Scott Boras.

A group of four high-profile free agents repped by Boras, recently coined "The Boras Four," remained on the open market until this past weekend, when Cody Bellinger signed a three-year deal with the Chicago Cubs worth $80 million that contains player opt-outs after 2024 and 2025.

While Bellinger has signed, Snell, Jordan Montgomery, and Matt Chapman remain on the market.

The initial hope for Bellinger was to secure a deal worth more than $200 million, and the fact that he settled for $80 million has led to some buzz that Snell and Boras' two other big unsigned free agents might also accept less than initially expected.

“I think he’s just waiting for the perfect spot for him,” Soto told The Post. “It is what it is. It happened before, with [Manny] Machado, and with [Bryce] Harper. Those guys signed late, in spring training. They were asking for the money, and they got it.”
