The women's college basketball game between Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida scheduled for Saturday at UNF Arena has been postponed because of health and safety concerns within the JU program.

A Jacksonville University athletics spokesman would not elaborate on the nature of the issue other than to call it "health-related." A UNF spokesman said their women's team is not experiencing any illnesses.

The game has been rescheduled for Feb. 15, with a tipoff time to be announced later. That was previously an open date on the ASUN schedule for both teams. They will now face each other twice within a three-day span, first at UNF Arena, then on Feb. 17 at JU's Swisher Gym, at 2 p.m.

The last time an area college had games postponed or canceled due to illness was in 2021 when the JU men's team had to withdraw from the ASUN tournament.

The JU men's game vs. Kennesaw (3 p.m.) and the UNF men's game vs. Queen's (5 p.m.) on Saturday are still being played as scheduled. JU officials also said the women's games next week at home against Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 25 and Bellarmine on Jan. 27 have not yet been affected.
