Josh Knoth selected by Milwaukee in comp round of the 2023 MLB Draft

Jul. 9—Ole Miss signee Josh Knoth was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the Competitive Balance round A (33rd overall) in the 2023 MLB Draft on Sunday.

The Medford, New York, native is the first high school pitcher selected by the Brewers on Day 1 of the Draft since 2017 when they took Caden Lemons.

Knoth's fastball sits in the mid 90s and reaches the upper 90s, and he features a three pitch mix with a changeup and curveball rounding out his repertoire.

Ole Miss' top-two signees from a year ago, Jackson Ferris and Roman Anthony, both opted to sign their contacts than play collegiate baseball. Both were taken in the second round by the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox, respectively.
