Josh Downs leads Colts in targets during wild overtime win

There were a couple insane endings to the Week 3, 1 o’clock NFL games.

The New York Jets nearly beat the New England Patriots on a Zach Wilson Hail Mary, the Los Angeles Chargers intercepted a Kirk Cousins pass to prevent a Minnesota Vikings comeback, the New Orleans Saints missed a potential game-winning field goal against the Green Bay Packers and, to top things off, the Indianapolis Colts upset the Baltimore Ravens in overtime on the road, 22-19, on Matt Gay’s fifth field goal.

In that wild overtime victory for the Colts, one of their talented rookies enjoyed his most productive, regular season NFL game to date.

Josh Downs, the former UNC wide receiver who finished fourth in school history with 2,483 receiving yards, led the Colts with 12 targets. He caught eight Gardner Minshew passes for 57 yards, second on Indy behind Michael Pittman Jr.

This was Downs’ first game without starting quarterback Anthony Richardson, but first with Minshew, the mustache-wearing, mullet-flowing quarterback who’s enjoyed his fair share of NFL success. Downs now has chemistry with two quarterbacks, which will only help him as he develops into a NFL star.

Indy heads back home next week to hosts the Los Angeles Rams at 1 p.m. ET.

What will Downs do for an encore?
